Re: 98 R1100GS strange noises

Re: GS 1100 start up rattle
The cam chain tensioner is hydraulic and takes a second or two to fill up.. This problem was fixed up in later model by stopping the LH hydraulic from draining down. If it really bothers you you can fix by installing later model tensioner piston. Only need to do one side as the other side is upside ...

Re: R1100GS neutral light/ ignitionfault
I see you have posted a couple of issues - have you got any answers yet from meeting the other members if not I will give a couple quick answers on each . Neutral light sender and side stand safety switch can have issues. Generally dirty oily connections. A common novice mistake is to use pressure w...

Re: GS 1100 throttle body repair and other rattles
Do you need a throttle body repair? It usually takes a lot more than 70k wear and if it does its only the rh side as the left has the additional support of the Tps What are you hearing to make you think you need a throttle body -usually the wear on a throttle body is on the shaft of the 'butterfly' ...

Re: Bash Plate
The rubber protectors on all the GS's suffer the same fate. Oil/heat is not great for rubber and they eventually go soft and break apart. Once or twice  I had the same problem so far I have been able to grab the edge with a pair of grips and get them started - they have not been wound in that t...

Re: Taxes. There are questions.
Hi Sergey
We pay a registration fee and a compulsary 3rd party insurance fee (plus stamp duty). To give you an idea for a BMW R100 I pay (per Year) $60 for licence, $126 for insurance (stamp duty about $24). The fees dont change much between different types of bikes.
Cheers Wayne

Re: Riding Courses
+1 to Bully's comments.
Great weekend but I think we only just scratched the surface as far as all the different rides that are available. This course caters for novice to advance and all had fun. If you didnt do it this time put your name down for the next!

Re: Riding Courses
Are we talking about where Karnup Rd crosses Kwinana/Bunbury Freeway or where Karnup Rd crosses SW Hwy? I think Bully is saying down SW Hwy to Burekup turn left at Dowdells Rd to end, right into Ferguson (into Dardanup) left on Boyanup-Picton Rd to Boyanup then left on SW Hwy head towards Kirup etc....

Re: Exhaust stud Question.
Hi Bry You havent mentioned which bike, so I cant make a comment however as a generalisation you can use loctite(I use blue) on the head end of the stud but its not always done as some say the heat at the stud is sufficient over time to break down loctite. For me this is more to reduce corrosion bet...
