Re: General Meeting 11th August
I certainly agree...i had a set made at Christmas time after trying all the cheaper options and 'normal' bud type earphones which have a tendancy to either fall out or press against the ear/head. With the moulded ones, you can have the volume at a reasonble level and still hear the music clearly at ...

Recent trip thru central and outback Australia
Recently returned from a 21 day trip through central Australia and outback Queensland on the GSA. Not all went according to plan...spent 7 days in Birdsville waiting for a new front rim after bending mine. Longest 7 days of my life. For those of you who have been to Birdsville i am sure you can rela...

Re: Camel Backs
I own a 'Fluid' which is Anacondas 'home brand' stuff. It works for me. There is so much choice out there now that you will find heaps to choose from. My only advice is to ensure you can get replacement bladders for the unit you buy...sometimes, the replacement bladders cost more than the original u...

Re: CANNING STOCK ROUTE
R we talking un suported? or a back up vehicle ( mobile Pub?) Apart from the obvious reasons, why not take the GSA ? I'd be keen.... If you take a GSA, you will use it as a signal fire to get somebodies attention to be rescued...you will regret the day you made the decision to take anything bigger ...

Re: CANNING STOCK ROUTE
I did it in 1996 in an Oka with a small group of others in conventional 4WDs. We spent about 10 days on the CSR (from memory) and that was with no 'admin' days included. Back then, there was a fuel drop available (pay when you order) which was delivered from Hedland but i believe that service is no ...

I gotta ask...if this is just an overnighter, why during the week. Why not on the weekend. Does it have anything to do with crowds???

Re: Bike Insurance - Any suggestions
InsureMyRide. $457 per year with $500 excess. I did not bother about covering gear or personal valuables. That cover is for 'limited use', garaged, and no modifications to bike.

JonO,
Put me down for two also. I may not use them on the Beema but may find another application for them that I have in mind (nothing dubious or sinister!!!).

YouTube Video - Desert Raid

A 3 minute video of Desert Raid. A bit grainy in places but entertaining (I think) none the less.

2009 BMW GS Safari-Tasmania-Video on YouTube
John Walters and I have just returned from the GS Safari in Tasmania. I have produced a 10 minute video and placed it on YouTube for those who may be interested. If the link fails (i am still getting my head around some technologies) then go to YouTube and type in 'BMW GS Safari - Oz Style'. It shou...
