Well, I'm astounded! All of this is making me think this interweb thingy isn't safe, secure and only used by nice people.

Here's a discussion point; putting your make of car alongside your nom de plume may not be the smartest thing you've ever done. You may want to edit/delete that; note that I omitted reference to it in this reply.

On the subject of nom de plumes, why do some people insist on identifying members by their real names on a public forum (see some of the posts above)? Are you really that naive to think that nasty people don't frequent the Internet?

Just some discussion points.
Some people are like Slinkys, you can't help smiling when you push them downstairs.

The theft of BMW motorcycles is not common.

Bikenut and Netrider lists only show the odd BMW and no 1200GS's.

The number of bikes stolen in Perth are mainly scooters light off road bikes and light sports bikes.

Only 7 bikes were stolen in the past 12 months from South Perth and 9 from Como of the 1,633 stolen in Perth and most were for joyriding.

If you Google "stolen BMW 1200 GS Australia" or for "Perth" only Snaga's comes up.

See https://ncars.on.net/motorcycle_map.html and click to see the number of bikes stolen in your area.

Bozo very sorry to hear your news.
To those concerned about the members register, it has not been hacked, members actual address is not displayed to the public or other members, and this is not the forum to discuss this detail, please take it up on the members private forum.

Found this on the Narrogin Police Twitter Account

Rider had no licence and was suspected of drug impaired riding. The bike had the number plate of my other stolen bike on it.

Bike had been hotwired...no news of the 1200GS

Bully

You are right....insurance has settled on both bikes.

Just interested in where they end up and how they managed to remove them.

Looks like it's scheduled for a forensics exam.. which is odd given they have a rider, unless there's some issue with that. Doubt they'll lift much off those grips anyway. Nice to see them trying.

I was unaware of the correct method of tying down a Telelever Suspension. When my 1200 GS was recovered in Tamworth I am sure that they just used straps on the handlebars but it was only a 1500 metre journey.

Found this on the internet supporting your protocol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6v8dy5XwZg

Might be worth an article in the magazine as I expect a few members would be unaware like me.

Ian

The Narrogin Police rang me on the Gascoyne run to say they had found the bike and wanting information on my personal items that were stolen. It was my curiosity to check if there was any more info on their site.

Bry

I think the reason for checking the grips was because they suspected others were involved given the way the bike was taken.
