Digger has been described as a Solivagant, a sort of solo wanderer.

There are other descriptions that could equally be applied:

- Tarvagant, a wanderer along a road adjoining a long railway
- Tomcruzevagant, a male vagrant in Birdsville waiting for a part
- Palandronevagant, a person undertaking a journey with a mate and a drone that goes and comes back on the same route
- Gridandogvagant, a wanderer on a bicycle with a trailer
- Nepotivagant, a wanderer with a family member
- Spottrackerslackervagant, a person sending signals from interesting places to the chagrin of observers forced to work
- Piccolosanyovagant, a traveller carrying a small radio in remote places
- Darthvagant, a white helemeted storm gazing trooper deciding whether to tackle the saturated universe or take the advice of the force and stay put for a few days
