NZ Trip- Message from Peter Unger

Post by bmwlefty »

Hi All,

This will probably interest mainly those that are interested in motorcycles.
This coming Friday I will be joining a group of motorcyclists that are travelling from the northern most point of NZ’s North Island to the southern most point on the South Island travelling, as far as possible on gravel roads and tracks.
This is in deference to the BMW GS, which was designed for this purpose.
For those that don’t know, the GS competed and won the Paris to Dakar race several times in the 1980’s.
The bike I’ll be riding, is a replica of that machine.
The organiser has a GPS tracking device and our progress will on a website together with some pictures.
If you would like to follow our trip….
Go to http://www.spotadventures.com/trip/view/?trip_id=231058
And then click on the red arrow on the small map. This will take you to a larger map and some pic’s of the trip.

Right now I’m busy getting the bike ready and all my packing sorted.

We will arrive in Invercargill on Thursday 25 November and then spend 2-3 days attending the Burt Munro Rally. http://www.burtmunrochallenge..com
It is my intention to travel back home via The West Coast (weather permitting) and will take a few days to do this.
I have not specific plans, but certainly want to visit the glaciers. Liz has some family in Westport, so I’ll be calling in there as well.

I’ll send you an update and a few pic’s on my return.

Be and keep well

PeterU
