Shaft Drive bikes

Post by Bry »

Now you guys with F800's that need to be shown that *real* beemers have shafts can cut your teeth on these little beauties! :)
Kinda like training so you can step up to a shaft drive again! :)

Mind you steer clear of the ones with FD leaks and weeping clutch seals... roll on the water cooled, wet clutch... a whole world of new problems to hear about.

Well, we have a right of reply.

You Bry, who only rides 2 shaft bikes 1 of work and 1 of pleasure.
Plus a belt drive if the good lady will let you ride it, should be careful.
Just remember that us 800 riders can fix our final drive in the bush should it break, can you fix the shaft drive in the bush. Yes you can, its called road side assist if you are on the bitumen.

I think you need to look closely at the photo you put up, isn't this new shaft drive bike in Police colours.
With a new 7 speed gearbox you can go faster. It even has real front end suspension, not some tele-lever.
One way to cut costs.

Ahab :P

That seat has to be an improvement on the F though.

The only problem with the seat is if you sit down on it for to long. That is not what F800 is about. If you what to sit down for a long time you buy a shaft drive and ride on the bitumen. F800 is about riding off road.

New Police bike? geez, I dunno, this is way to technical..

I have a chain drive bike as well, the CBR's chain drive, nasty, oily thing, precious.... The only saving grace is the acceleration! (to the speed limit) 8)

edit : and pushings done from the side, you don't have to be on the 800's seat for long!
