Hi everyone,
I am the new proud owner of a 1200 GS and I love it - unfortunately I can't afford the panniers for the bike right now, although it does have the frame for them. I have a Ventura bag from my last bike and so I have managed to get the rack for the BM but am having a bit of trouble fitting it. Does anyone know if the Ventura rack will fit with the pannier frame left on or will I have to remove everything - time to start saving for the metal panniers methinks?!
Thanks
Deb
Fitting a Ventura rack to a 1200GS
Re: Fitting a Ventura rack to a 1200GS
I dont think that the Ventura rack will fit with the BMW racks in place, there are other alternatives ( read a LOT cheaper ) than the BMW hard boxes available.
Re: Fitting a Ventura rack to a 1200GS
Ventura rack will fit on the standard GS, not on the GSA. When I had my GSA I took all the metal boxes off, fitted the grab handle assy and vario mounts and then the ventura rack. No issues, basically converted the back end to a standard GS.
Hardest part is the 'hoop' that saddles the frame may need a little packing when attached, but other than that, it's a straightforward affair. Pic from when I took it in.
