Gday Chuck

I rode my DR across the GCR early May. That was my 4th crossing on a mc since 2008. It was heavily corrugated for most of it this time. No doubt there's been graders and shitloads of tourists on GCR since May so its any guess whether its any better, same or worse by October.

Your ability will dictate whether the few kms of sand near Docker River cause trouble or not.

All things being equal (and dry) you should have no troubles. Make sure everything is strapped on thoroughly. Post up some pics of your bike packed if you're not sure.

BTW... the BMW Vario topbox (if you are using it) can and will dislodge over hard bumps or heavy corrugations. It's happened to me.

Good luck

Chuck, I drove (4 wheels) the CSR in June, pretty much as Shane says except the WA side the roads were pretty good as the graders were hard at it, there was still a couple of hundred K's that was yet to be done.
Take it easy Docker River east on the sand and severe corrugations, there was some work happening on this section so you might get lucky!
