Porongurup....Christmas Dinner ??

Post by Davey_sprockeT »

Jono,
after my public villification (http://thesaurus.com/browse/vilification) 8) at Mondays meeting, I have investigated the possibilities of event/ accomodation and found this: http://www.booking.com/searchresults.en ... 1;src=city

disappointing to say the least.. eerr I'm not sure that Porongurup is going to be the place to be for the Christmas event. Anyone any other ideas??

Try this site:
http://www.porongurup.com/accommodation/

I have stayed at Karri bank before this is ok for a night. The Thai restaurant is legionary for its food. If we can get a Xmas booking there it would be a great thing for our club and it would be a memorable Xmas for all that attend. The ride down is a 4-5 hour ride depending on the route taken. All the locals recommend it. Mt Barker is fairly close and the camping ground / caravan park is quite reasonable. I have a mate that runs a winery ( Dukes) I might be able to organise a camp at his winery which is next door to the restaurant. I'd have to ask him first. Last year we had our shindig :P at Narrogin which most of our regulars attended. This indicates that members are prepared to ride the miles to attend these functions so the Thai Restaurant at the Porongurups may be on the cards as a Xmas venue unless we get members protesting and disagreeing with this as a venue . Sprocket are you still keen to organise setting up this task . I can give you a hand if you need some help . I felt at the club meeting last Mon that you were surprised that you were going to organise this event.
Maybe we can get some feedback on this forum site to get an indication if people think this is a suitable venue given that we probably have to get onto bookings etc ASAP TO SECURE IT

Bill I would be happy with this location, it would certainly be different, in a good way!
We should also be able to entice some of our Southern Members to come along.

How about it then I nominate Bill and Davey for the Christmas function organizing committee

A few years ago ,we did a semi club run and stayed at the porongarup caravan park which was fine with a meal at the Thai restaurant .A great part of the world ,with the Stirling ranges and plenty of great roads and tracks near by

If we can camp at dukes with a meal at the Thai accompanied by some nice dukes wines and may be breaky at dukes Sunday
I'll be in
The Thai restaurant is only small and it may pay to book we'll and truly in advance
