Re: M/C Spring crusade Fri 18-20 Sep thru NE WA
Arrived home at 1430 following a brilliant ride thru the Northern wheat belt .
Brian, Patrick,Gerry and myself met at the Bindoon Bakery on a cold Friday morning for a departure to Goomalling, Wongan Hills, Koorda, Mollerin Lake, Beacon and the first nights camp at Billiburning Rock.
We were riding just past the Bindoon Hill when a gang of drug crazed outlaw bikies riding noisy Harley's came out of nowhere and scared the hell out of us by passing on the outside and inside of us similtainiously at ridiculous speed. We were travelling at slightly over legal speeds and these guys went past as I said on both sides of my bike like I was standing still. Not expecting a couple of bikes passing on the inside as I was watching the one passing on the outside and being deafened by the noise it was just sheer luck that I kept my line and didn't move left when all this was happening. No wonder there are statistics that show M/C s figure in above levels of accidents when the likes of these dickheads are riding our roads. There must have been about 25 of them some with pillions and they all blasted past us. Thankfully they headed on up the GNHWY and we turned off to Callingiri and Wongan Hills.
We fuelled up at Koorda and proceeded to Beacon where we topped up and hit the dirt for the ride up to Billiburning Rock. The dirt was fairly good to the Rock and we set up camp at about 1630, lit a fire got out the red , cooked dinner and sat around spinning tall stories till 1900 and all had a great nights sleep.
The next day we explored the rock packed up and headed West across a fairly sandy track to Bimbijy Station road. When we got to the intersection it was another 90 km of dirt to get to the station itself. The road was fairly good and we kept up speeds of around 80ks. As we got close to the homestead a warning light came on suggesting I had a air leak . We couldn't see any problems with the tire so proceeded on with the warning light remaining on and the tire pressure monitors indicating no pressures. We arrived at the station and there was no one there. Brian decided to let his bike fall over when the side stand wasn't placed properly. We all helped lift the monster upright with Patrick more concerned about getting a photo. So we had a break, used the toilets, had some snacks and then turned around and headed back down the Bimbijy station road, 120 Km back to Beacon. The tire pressure gauge decided to start working again and the yellow warning triangle disappeared
so it was some relief that the tires were ok. We headed off down to Bencubbin, and stopped for fuel and fish and chips. Patrick decided he was going to part company at this stage and headed off towards Bullfinch with the intention to go to Lake Ballard over the next few days. We proceeded down some more dirt to Marshal Rocks and set up the Sat nights camp. Another good night and some exploration of the rock the next morning. Great display of wild flowers and from the top of the rock a great vista taking in the vast surrounding wheat fields with scattered pockets of bush. We did some other tourist type of exploration to various tourist venues on the route home, going via Trayning, Wyalkatchem, Dowerin, Toodjay , Chittering and then home.
Great trip and thanks to my companions for great company.

This little critter had crawled up Gerrys leg the night before. He squealed and flicked it off and it wriggled away into the night. The next morning I was loading the bike and found it in my Helmet and this is the result

Great trip fellows thanks for the company, I will try to remember to bring more crumpets next time.
Gerry's friend was only a common banded centipede that wanted company or a ride.
Billiburning Rock camping site a bit more exposed, friendly flies & wildlife, 19Km dirt, 35K north Beacon.
Marshall Rock good shelter with larger trees, shelter with water tank, 3km dirt, 7km SE Bencubbin.

Latest on Patrick.
Patrick SMS' ed me this morning that he has survived his 6 day magic bike odyssey to Lake Ballard and was in Merredin at the Café 55 on his way home.
we were wondering how he was after he left us at Bencubin on Sunday
