You seem to be representing that you have been unfairly dealt with by the club

I feel I must reply to this to make it clear what happened on the night of the last AGM as it seems the few members that keep bringing it up WERE NOT PRESENT on the night of the AGM and were not privy as to what went on at the AGM.
Prior the the AGM The committee had a meeting on the Thursday prior to the AGM elections on the following Monday. All were in attendance apart from Cookie. The election was discussed and the nomination of Cookie by Swampy came up. I was asked if I was still happy to remain in the role of VP which I indicated I was looking forward to continuing and felt that I had contributed positively to the club and intended to do so in the future. The committee indicated they would contact Cookie to discus this with him. I left the meeting feeling I had the support from them to continue in the role.
On the night of the AGM The president stood down and Ex President Lefty took the chair to run the election. The role of VP was the only contested election for the night.
Lefty ran thru the uncontested nominations and Cookie was elected as general committee person.lefty when it came to the VP role then asked Cookie if he wanted to withdraw his nomination which to my surprise and quite a few others he wouldn’t. So Lefty announced there would be a vote. Rather than provide the means for a secret ballot to be taken or the nominees be allowed to address the members to provide reasons why they should be elected he immediately said “ with a show of hands who wants to vote for Cookie “, raising his own hand up as he was saying it.
Both myself and Cookie had to watch on as our mates awkwardly had to vote their allegiance to the nominees making it very awkward for members watching the vote.
The first rise of hand had Cookie with a slight majority and he was declared the new VP
I felt following my defeat that the system for voting had been very unprofessional. I indicated to the AGM I was very disappointed that the few members present who voted me out felt I wasn’t doing good enough with the role and I would step away from my executive role helping with running the club duties for a while. With the very low interest from the paid up 180 members at the last AGM and it’s to my mind rather “slap happy” way it was run I did feel annoyed at the time. There was never any bitterness as some keep bringing up just disappointment that I couldn’t have a leadership role in influencing to the better the future of the club with a enthusiastic and positive outlook which to my mind was becoming stale.
After spending the year doing a lot of other things and watching the club from the sidelines, I feel I am ready to come back in a leadership role and get back to enthusiastically leading the new committee and members to future success and as outlined in my verbose writings get some depth back from our current members and other BMW bike owners to get a strong community of BMW bike owners in our club wanting to belong to the club

I was present at the AGM and reiterate that the election of the committee is the sole responsibility of the members.

What happens in the management committee meetings other than nominating the date, time and venue of the AGM is irrelevant to the election process. Lefty has acted as returning officer on many occasions without any complaint.

What matters is that Cookie stood and was elected. A secret ballot can be used if that is the will of the meeting. No motion for a secret ballot was proposed.

Your candidacy for President of the Club should rely on what you are going to do in the future not what happened in the past.

While you keep posting irrelevant material I will keep responding.

There was no conspiracy, another candidate was simply elected with out any malice on his part or any of the members. It surprised members that you were so impacted by the election result.

Chris I am merely responding to your previous comment for people that were not at that AGM and to explain my annoyance at the time with the way the election was organised and run. I didn’t mention anything about a conspiracy

You have chosen to use expressions as "tiffed out", "deposed" and "ousted" to describe your being an unsuccessful candidate at the last AGM. These terms are consistent with there having been a conspiracy.

If you wish there to be a secret ballot for contested positions it is up to you to move a motion to this effect before commencing the election process and for it to be supported by the majority of members at the AGM.

To One and All,

It appears that I owe the members of the BMWMCCWA my abject apologies for being the root cause of the somewhat long and sometimes heated debate that has taken place the last few days on this and other forum's!!

Yes I am guilty of nominating Cookie for the position of Vice President, the vacant position that he was successful in being Democratically elected to and currently holds BUT I offer NO apologies for nominating him to that role as to my mind he was the best person to fill that position based on my observations of his performance over the last 8 + years that I have been a member of this fine club!!

Just so you are all aware, I have nominated Cookie again for the Vice President position this year, the position he has currently filled very successfully and wish to make it clear to all that I placed my nomination in long before this current debate started and not in response to any other matters that are current.

Regards To All and I will see you at the AGM.

PS: I am also willing to discuss this face to face with anyone wishing to do so on any Sunday at Catalano's

Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."

My pc has been down the past two months, so have not closely followed recent forum events. Jono's post, Sun 16 June, summed it up nicely for me.

A reminder to members if you can’t get along to the AGM at the Vic Park Hotel on Monday the 8th of July starting at 7.30 then if you would like to vote for candidates the club has put a link on the members only section of the clubs web page for you to elect a proxy to represent your vote for who you want to run the club for the next year. It’s just a matter of nominating your proxy for a paid up club member who will be attending the meeting, filling in their details, choose your preferences and fill in your details then press the submit button on the bottom and your voting preferences will be counted for the election of the committee people that have nominated for the various positions.

I love this healthy debate! I'm hoping to revive my membership in time for the AGM and avail myself of the voting from Jakarta option.
Hell, If I can swing this in the next two days before 30 June I may even qualify for a 10 year membership badge

I am in Jakarta doing a project for 6 months and may then be back in WA for around 6 months.

Cheers
