I feel I must reply to this to make it clear what happened on the night of the last AGM as it seems the few members that keep bringing it up WERE NOT PRESENT on the night of the AGM and were not privy as to what went on at the AGM.Bozo wrote:Bill
You seem to be representing that you have been unfairly dealt with by the club

Prior the the AGM The committee had a meeting on the Thursday prior to the AGM elections on the following Monday. All were in attendance apart from Cookie. The election was discussed and the nomination of Cookie by Swampy came up. I was asked if I was still happy to remain in the role of VP which I indicated I was looking forward to continuing and felt that I had contributed positively to the club and intended to do so in the future. The committee indicated they would contact Cookie to discus this with him. I left the meeting feeling I had the support from them to continue in the role.
On the night of the AGM The president stood down and Ex President Lefty took the chair to run the election. The role of VP was the only contested election for the night.
Lefty ran thru the uncontested nominations and Cookie was elected as general committee person.lefty when it came to the VP role then asked Cookie if he wanted to withdraw his nomination which to my surprise and quite a few others he wouldn’t. So Lefty announced there would be a vote. Rather than provide the means for a secret ballot to be taken or the nominees be allowed to address the members to provide reasons why they should be elected he immediately said “ with a show of hands who wants to vote for Cookie “, raising his own hand up as he was saying it.
Both myself and Cookie had to watch on as our mates awkwardly had to vote their allegiance to the nominees making it very awkward for members watching the vote.
The first rise of hand had Cookie with a slight majority and he was declared the new VP
I felt following my defeat that the system for voting had been very unprofessional. I indicated to the AGM I was very disappointed that the few members present who voted me out felt I wasn’t doing good enough with the role and I would step away from my executive role helping with running the club duties for a while. With the very low interest from the paid up 180 members at the last AGM and it’s to my mind rather “slap happy” way it was run I did feel annoyed at the time. There was never any bitterness as some keep bringing up just disappointment that I couldn’t have a leadership role in influencing to the better the future of the club with a enthusiastic and positive outlook which to my mind was becoming stale.
After spending the year doing a lot of other things and watching the club from the sidelines, I feel I am ready to come back in a leadership role and get back to enthusiastically leading the new committee and members to future success and as outlined in my verbose writings get some depth back from our current members and other BMW bike owners to get a strong community of BMW bike owners in our club wanting to belong to the club
