The good thing about the 1200. Their best photo side, is on it's side.

Another one for the "Wall of Shame"Ben
Another one, but a front tyre blow out at 110kmh on a dirt road,...not sure if an 800 would give such stability.Image

Your tyre blew was caused by under inflation, not a problem with the tyre, any way enufs enuf, for those who can't handle a 1200, get an 800, for those who can handle a 1200, stick with the best, what are you, a man or a mouse??
happy new Year

Agreed...

Happy New Year everyone. May your rides be many and your falls be few in 2011.

PS: they're all good and very capable bikes

I don't check in here for a few days and look what happens !!!!!! Play nicely in the sand pit boys or you can pick up your helmet and go home.

I didn't start the thread to get a pissing competition going, I still think that they are both the best dual sports and adventure bikes on the market. If I was riding from here to Townesville I wouldn't hesitate to take the 1200, for comfort and mile eating ease it's the most comfortable bike I've ever owned, in 2009 when I went to phillip Island and the Whitsundays I left the 1200LT at home and took the GS, the riding position is great. If I was travelling to Kalgoorlie via the Holland Track, I'd walk past the 12 and take the 800, it's just better in the shitty tracks, might be the 21 inch front wheel or the suspension, don't know, just feels more competent on the dirt.

If we get a bit of rain to dampen the dust I'll take the 800 out for a longer run, but at the moment the tracks are pretty ordinary out there.

It was good fun winding the 800 stalwarts up but I have to agree they are both good bikes and each suited to a different niche. If I could I would happily have one of each!

Happy New Year everyone and an enjoyable and upright 2011!

Cheers JonO
