I sacrificed a pool noodle to help protect the bike for those times I had to use ‘public transport’. I think it paid off. Lightweight, effective and only a few minutes to prep the bike.

Saigon traffic on arrival. It would’ve been a nightmare to navigate into the city if I had chosen to ride.

Image
Sourced a bike box (100,000VND, ($6AUD robbin’ bastards lol)) so the trip must be coming to an end. Fly out Monday, home early Tuesday.

I’ve gotta replace the flag. This one won’t survive another trip. This flag has done Thailand, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Switzerland, Austria, France, Germany, The Netherlands, The Munda Biddi, Laos, Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia (some countries more then once). Not to mention Lake Joondalup a few time whilst training. Gunna have to find a suitable way of disposing of it (maybe draped over my chest in my coffin lol).

See you on the other side.

:P

Steve

Another excellent adventure and production. Very enjoyable to watch.

Some of the interest in the trailer could be the reticulated straps.

Amazing to see you passing motorcycles and buses on the descents. I suppose after pumping all that energy into ascending you don't want to dissipate it by braking.

He was gutted to have to throw in the towel but also realised there was little point in continuing. He has got over it now and as long as he doesn’t over work the knee he is ok. He will get a bit toey when he knows I’m already working on next years trip (Taiwan).

G’day Slackers,

Well, time to get off the couch again. I’m goin’ on a ten day shake down ‘drive’ with the 4WD Club to ‘test my systems’ before a much larger six week trip later in the year. Depart Easter Friday and be back Sunday 28th. Going to Bremer Bay first and then Esperance and probably return via Hyden.

So much to do; so little time.

G'Day Slackers...time to get off the couch again.

Myself and a small group of others (including His Royal Griceness) will be departing for an Outback 4WD Adventure leaving from Perth on Saturday 1 June. We should be gone for about 6 weeks all up if things go according to plan.

Proposed route is as follows;

Perth to Kalgoorlie and then onto Laverton.
Laverton to Uluru via Great Central Road.
Uluru to Mount Dare and cross the Simpson Desert to Birdsville (if it is passable..currently closed due to flooding from TC Trevor earlier this year).
Birdsville north to Boulia.
Boulia to Alice Springs via the Donahue and Plenty Highways.
Alice Springs to Halls Creek via the Tanami Track.
Halls Creek to Wiluna via the Canning Stock Route.

Photo of proposed route attached.

I'll update as we progress (when I have a signal).

See you on the other side.

Life on the road...in this case, Great Central Road.

Packing up after a bush camp. It’s a bit harder to find suitable locations for 6 4WD’s but we manage. We have been blessed by great weather albeit cold and some days with strong winds.
