Hi Folks,
This is the last episode of our recent trip exploring the Kimberley Region of WA…I hope you enjoy it. I released it on this special day of significance and it is dedicated to the memory of Jacki’s father, Noel Mulavey, who sadly passed away suddenly and who was laid to rest today.
My condolences to Jacki, her sister Leanne and the extended family. He will be remembered forever and greatly missed.
RIP Noel

Digger, alias Cecil B Demille,

What a thoroughly delightful and entertaining series of film to watch on a cold and wet Perth Winters day!!

I have travelled the Gibb River Road a couple of times now but have never had the pleasure of a flight over the Mitchell Falls which looked magnificent and must have been one of the highlights of your journey!!

Great footage combined with clever use of the camera added up to make an interesting little epic coverage of our beautiful North West and Kimberly!!

Well done mate!!

Hello Slackers,

I’ve decided at short notice to go cycle touring from Mandurah down to Augusta via Margaret River. I’ll use my sons, Trevor’s, Ebike in the hope I don’t have similar issues to last year when I shorted out his battery…the replacement cost $1,400. I now have Shares in the Lithium Battery industry. Ouch!

Hello Snowflakes,

Update end of Day two,

I left late morning yesterday and caught the Train down to Mandurah…there is no fun in riding thru the metro area. From there I rode 36 km to my destination which was the Estuary Hideaway Caravan Park north of Bunbury. The Ebike makes short work of the hills and the effort needed to tow the trailer.

I’m staying at Australind tonight (Saturday) and will make my way to Busselton tomorrow. Tough conditions due to the heat, Ebike or no Ebike, tough conditions.

An easy transit for 1 1/2 hours from home to Mandurah. I do enjoy being a tourist in my own State.

To be cont…

Image
Not an ideal start but normally I would be touring SEAsia where you have 90% humidity. 40 degrees is a walk in the park!

Some great coastal bike paths south of Mandurah.

Update end of Day two cont…

The cycle path under the Dawseville Cut traffic bridge. Noice!

I had to transit along the Forrest Highway for 40km. Not ideal but I had little option. Thankfully I had a wide cycle lane to keep some distance between me and the many heavy vehicles

Distance travelled to date - 130km.

Hello Folks,
Update end of day 3.

For the first time while cycle touring I suffered severe leg cramps…never happened before in all my years of touring locally and overseas. I’ve been hydrating and the heat here is no worse then SEAsia. The cramps have made the going tough since then.

See captions below.

Approaching Busselton…the Cops are very active (this was Sunday).

Same Cop a few minutes later and another unlucky Punter.

I may stay at Cowaramup for a couple of nights and visits my grandkids.

Hello Slackers,

Update end of day 6.

The journey has continued swimmingly other than some severe leg cramps which took some time to heal. I only have one more day of riding before I reach my destination (Augusta) for this particular Adventure. I stayed at Cowaramup for two nights to see my Daughter, my Son in Law and the my two Grand daughters. The rest did me good. I will return to Perth on Friday via a TransWa Coach.

See captions below.

Image
Departing Busselton and paralleling the coast for 15 km…I came across these guys, bogged on the beach. It can’t have been their first time. Amateurs!

Image
Stiff headwind on this day. The Ebike makes a big difference but you have to manage power versus economy or you’ll end up pushing it at the end of day.

Image
Followed the Wadandi Track out of Cowaramup toward Margaret River. The Wadandi were the original inhabitants who use to roam this part of the South West.
