Greetings fellow bimmers,

At our March Club Monthly Meeting, it was announced that a topic on future developments to the club website would be started on the Club Forum. Well here it is...

This is your opportunity to provide input / suggestions into what you would like to see on the BMWMCCWA website.

Features? / functionality? / page content?

Like the current forum? Want a different forum?

A small sub-committee is now formed and it will meet next week to discuss improvements to the back-end with a couple of technical types.

Any suggestions from you will be included in this discussion. So please recommend away...

Please bear in mind that we don't wish to spend all the club's hard-earned reddys. So don't be too disappointed when we don't buy our own Amazon.com 8)

Up to you now...

nev

I couple of things you may wish to consider
a Facebook page.
whether you need to maintain the classified section on the website when have classified on the forum.

The forum seems to work fine, if a little dated. The problem is the lack of moderation that allows Spambots to post rubbish, which leads to the question of security for the whole site.

I would like to see new users to the forum screened before they are able to post. As is the case for other forums ie ADV rider

I agree with Jono,
i.e, only people keen enough to fill in an application form and then become financial members can post and enjoy the resource of the club website (and even an increase in membership cost to cover this I believe would not be unreasonable) this would be the members section.
However as we know we currently have an overseas interest from Russia (Sergey) that is communicating with us and is clearly not spam or nuisance value, so there should be a way that examples of this type of contact should be allowed, but moderated.

To clarify my post, I dont want to restrict forum use to club members. I just want new users screened to establish that they are genuine and not nuisance spam generators. I think having the forum open to others is a great way to attract new members, sell via the classifieds or meet interesting folk of like interests.
As not all club members use the forum I would not advocate increasing club fees to cover additional forum costs.

I would like a directory of who's who in the secure "members only section". I have been in the club for 4 years now and still don't know who's who with some of the psudonems people use which can make things dificult when trying to work out if what they say is relevant or not or who said what etc.
eg bill9117------------- Bill Burn
I am sure genuine members wouldn't have a problem with this

Excellent Idea Bill, I second Bill's (who?) recommendation. I am still trying to work out who's who in the club and sometimes feel silly having to constantly ask!!

Swampy

There doesn't appear to be a lot of interest from members on the website format and suggestions. 7 people have voted to keep it as is and 2 don't like it. Now is the time to voice your opinion and try and improve or upgrade this useful tool that binds club members together

If this is not the case it should be implemented sooner rather than later.

The general public should be able to view posts only and not have the ability to interact with the Forum in any way what-so-ever. Only approved applicants should be able to post and or interact with the Forum. An approved applicant should not have to be a financial BMWMCCWA Member, and the application process can be conducted online by providing some basic information about ones-self and correctly entering the deliberately distorted anti-spam alpha-numeric equation.

I know the majority of the above has been already been mentioned, but this is my vote for affirmative action to commence it's process.

And I also do not know who is who when pseudonyms are used. Will I or won't I sign off with my given name??????????????
Cheers Noel

I like Noels suggestion and can I please stay with comment rights. I like to stay up with what your members are doing and sometimes I just can't help myself and make out that I am still able to keep my balance (altho I never really could.).

Bit off topic Bill but I googled legend. "is a narrative of human actions that are perceived both by teller and listeners to take place within human history and to possess certain qualities that give the tale verisimilitude.
Verisimilitude is truth or like truth defined by a highly flexible set of parameters, which may include miracles. That about sums it up.

The website is OK I spose but there are better out there. And agree that we need spam control.

Gday Kev you leg end.

That reminds me of another modern keyboard malfunction... forgetting capitals.
