May edition - assistance required from 1200GS professional

Hello everyone

I note in our April edition that John has kindly requested a greater number of articles - it's good to get a friendly reminder because there are always great things going on.

I am going to prepare an article aimed at riders getting back on a bike after a bit of a break (in my case, 25 years) who purchase or are thinking abut purchasing a 1200. It will then take them through the first year of riding........

The style will be a long the lines of 'enthusiastic amateur' (me) and 'seasoned professional' (a volunteer please) and will work through a few topics over a few editions.

At this stage I need a volunteer to assist me........
Regards

JP

Best advice, get rid of the 1200. Buy a real bike

C'mon Mike you know that that isn't quite right, I do remember a time when you would be all too willing to throw your 12Gs in the dirt for a photo opportunity.

What this needs is someone like Steve who has done the GS Safari and several other long distance rides, ( many documented in video ) I think that that is what JP is after, not from someone that has been a turncoat and now spends many an hour bagging the real adventurers on the 12 GS/ GSA. Anyone can ride one of them 800's, I know lot's of girls that do ....

Yes, you are correct in that I did throw my bike in the dirt. The difference lies with others, that are being thrown in the dirt by the bike not the other way round.
Oh by the way Bully what dirt bike are you riding now, just cant remember. Isnt it something small. Under 600cc or was it a 400cc.

Please read my signature statement, I think it sums up this topic quite well.

Ahab :P
