Hi guys
Looking for tips on mounting a Zumo 660 to a 1200 Gs. Use a tank bag on big trips so must also work with the bag in place. Won't be using Bluetooth initially so being able to see the screen easily is a priority. Pics would be good too.

I have and can recommend this:
http://www.touratech.com.au/home/136-gp ... e.tpl.html
Not cheap, but it is lockable with a good level of anti-vibration design. Gives me peace of mind when away from the bike for short periods- servo/toilet.
Prevents the mongrels from a quick snatch & grab then off to Chashies.
It sits on the upper horizontal windscreen screen bar, away from the instrument cluster or tank bag, easily reachable and can be viewed in strong sunlight. Use the base mount and harness supplied with the 660.
I have my music on the 660 and then just plug ear pieces/ mic into the harness and bluetooth the phone.... Voila
Seems a lot of mulah, but I would buy it again if I had to, as the 660 works as a "hub" and controls everything.

If you are buying the BMW Motorad 660 then Autoclassic have a high mounting bracket that swivels enabling you to read your 660 from a more vertical position not obscured by a large tank bag. Had one fitted last week, works a treat

Mike it's a non BMW 660 will the bracket still work. What sort of cost was involved if you don't mind me asking.
Daley .. Was looking at that too, did you consider the mvg version ?? Again did you find a good deal or just get from touratech.

Pete - really difficult to say. From the quick look I had, the Zumo 660 may be slightly different to the Motorad supplied and branded version. All up, Autoclassic supplied and fitted it for $500 including the bracket.

Pete,
on reflection I did get the "MVG" version.
660 with OzTopo maps & Camp 6 software is around $1,200, so I thought this was an excellent means of protecting my investment.
The "MVG"product is originally designed to fit the handlebar cross tube which is 15mm dia, however the windscreen top cross tube is around 20mm dia., so a little "adjustment of the saddle clamps was necessary (or you could go to Bunnings and swap to a better fit).
I installed the harness back to a cental accessory fuse box hidden on the underside of the tool kit tray. This keeps it well away from moisture etc, and will also take any futher accessories etc that I plan to add later. Spare fuses attached also, so I know where all the fuses will be and also very quick/easy to get at.
Installation took about 30 minutes and three cups of coffee
I went through Touratech as you suggest, and as usual, no special deal....as BMW owners are supposed to be rich, right?
If you would like to have a look, PM me.
Cheers

not all 1200's have that top tube above the instrument cluster, that's a $700 extra !!!!

Broke My Wallet prices of course.
I think that all the GSA's have that bar though.

Thanks guys for all the input, its ben a great help.
BMW bar for above the clocks, gulp you gotta be joking.
So touratech do 2 about £70 to £100. So question is anyone got one and which did you get. The standard or the one that is 3cm taller.
Cheers
