Insurance Renewal

Post by Swampy »

Hi All,
I require your advice/opinion on Insuring my bike which is a 2009 R1200GS. I have NIL restrictions on my insurance IE: Nil Claims over last 5 years etc. My bike is in good condition also.

Currently insured by QBE at an agreed value of $22,000 and they are asking $396.00 for renewal.

I have heard Shannons is a better option for insurance purposes however their quote to me today is as follows.

$666.00 for agreed value of $19,000.

I am rather gobsmacked by this quote so am seeking advice on which way to go from those of you know and have had previous claims on their policies.

My wallet tells me stay with QBE but would I be better advised to go Shannons and what added benefits do they offer, If any?

Thanks in Anticipation

QBE is the best I can find.
Shannons is a joke, I couldnt believe my quote either

All my bikes are with QBE

did you tell Shannons that you only ride it on weekends, take a bit of license, they are an insurance company, they normally quote you for riding everyday.

I have the PD, the 510, the DRZ and the SAAB insured with Shannons, because I don't use every vehicle everyday I get a pretty good price, costs me just on 1k to insure all bikes and car, the car is insured for 25k ( agreed ) no questions and no inspection

Thanks to all those that replied to my querey regarding Insurance.

I think I will stay with QBE for now as it appears some members prefer them to Shannons, They are the cheaper option and I'm not likely to require assistance "Off Road".
Although I did take on board the input from Bully and one other member regarding Shannons.

Cheers
