Sadly can't make it Friday, but I am sure those going are going to have a great time if last years Grand Prix was anything to go by.

Some one needs to take a 20kg bag of cement along to put on Cookie's cart, he needs a weight penalty to give everyone else an equal chance

Thank you to all the people that came along and made the night a success, raising much needed funds for a very worthy cause - Lifeline.

We will know how much was raised over the next few days, the raffle alone raised $700, winners were: Howard a Shoei Helmet and Neville a $500 voucher - both generously donated by Auto Classic - thank you Jonas.

Judging by the smiles and banter - all enjoyed the evening of racing and fellowship.

Special mention of Club member Ric for his generous donation of the venue and support of the event.

Well, WHAT A NIGHT!

And Cookie said, "Come one, come all... and they came..." A motley crew, they were, ready to dig deep to support a cause... and race hard.

As a club, we raced, raised awareness and much needed cash for a great cause ( Life Line whose target is to halve suicide by 2023 - http://www.lifeline.org.au/ ), rolled out every dirty trick in the book, crashed, laughed and guffaw'ed our way through 5 hours of general mayhem.

Thanks to the Minister for Mental Health Helen Morton for attending and supporting the evening.

Thanks to Ric ("They're not bumper karts, you know") at Belmont Kart World (http://www.kartworldbelmont.com.au/) for the venue and his generous support for our club and LifeLine. Ric's staff were always patient and competent, ensuring we completed the evening without spilling any blood... on his clean floors

I hope that one day he will allow me back on his challenging track

A resounding "Thank You" to Auto Classic BMW (http://www.autoclassicmotorcycles.bmw.com.au/) again for their whole-hearted and generous support of our club, and this event. 2 major prizes were donated for raffles on the night: (1) a Shoei Helmet and; (2) a Cash Voucher of $500 to spend at Auto Classic BMW.

Onya! Cookie for pulling the whole event together in the your usual orderly fashion 8)

Another success story for our club demonstrating that we do more than just practicing our hedonistic pleasure riding around on motorcycles.

I'll leave it to VP Cookie and our Pres Jono to announce the amount raised.

Congratulations BMWMCCWA, that's you, and all our generous supporters :P

So, what of the racing, I hear you ask?

"There was movement at the station, for the word had passed around, the boys from BMW AutoClassic were challenging us to a race" I suspect next year we should make it Lawn Bowls. That'll give us more gentler folks a bit more of an edge. The young lads from BMW AutoClassic thoroughly thrashed us, like Poms would an Aussie cricket team in recent times.

Some Important Tips for winning races:

a) Don't crash
b) Depress the loud pedal all the way down and hold it there
c) Don't ever touch the brakes unless instructed to by supervising staff. In fact, perch your brake foot somewhere so you cannot touch the brakes
d) Brakes will only slow you down, so definitely recommended for entering the pit lane at the end of your race only :|
e) Complete your full allocation of laps and don't (a)
f) If you see a gap on the inside line of another kart and you reckon it's possible to pass, think about (a)
g) Go really fast
h) If all else fails, remember (a)
i) Don't get your kart wedged underneath the safety barrier, requiring 5 people to up-end it to extract it :|
j) Don't crash into the same safety barrier on the same corner (Bent Bend, I heard it was renamed) twice so that your kart is broken and you have sit out the race on the track in a broken kart
k) You forgot about (a) didn't you
l) Keep your hands away from hot things. Exhausts ARE hot
m) Buy raffle tickets to share with your best mate and let him choose his ticket :P
n) If you're completely hopeless, and you simply can't avoid (a) then laugh and enjoy the great company
o) Yes, it's a kart racing track, but the rule is still "Don't drink and drive"

I had a blast. Posted a pretty good time at 26.1 seconds for my hot lap. Crashed twice. Apologies to Doris  Never qualified for the semi-finals, ergo finals. Nibbled away at all the fine food and drink laid on by Ric and Belmont KartWorld. Won the $500 raffle with the ticket my mate didn't choose :P

Thanks all for sharing a fantastic fun evening of kart racing.
