Camp cook off 2013

Reminder that our annual camp cook off[ is coming up on the 21st which is only 2 weeks away. Anthony is out and about finding an exotic location with camping facilities. The location is usually in the vicinity of 150 km from Perth. For those that haven't attended a camp cook off , which is one of our most popular annual events; the idea is to front up on your motorbike with every thing you need to cook a decent meal being carried on the bike. There is a end time that the meal must be prepared by then the judges will sample some of the food and will determine who wins. There are sub categories for seafood, desert and whatever the judges decide on the night. Food must not be pre- prepared and must be prepared from basic ingredients at the campsite.
Substantial prizes such as BMW jackets camping equipment bike tools an accessories and many other categories of prizes have been up for grabs in previous cook offs.
It is a great week end with great camaraderie and fun with a great camping experience. If you can,t fit wives girlfriends,boyfriends etc on your bike, they are allowed to come by car but aren't allowed to bring any of the competition meal preparation stuff . They can even prepare their own food but not enter the comp as it is a m/b camp cook off and is designed to encourage creative ideas for preparing meals when travelling by m/b and having to camp and cook while doing so.
Hopefully we get a good turnip as in previous years.

2013 CAMP COOK OFF LOCATION
Wamenusking Sports Club, Western Australia

If you get to Corrigin you have gone to far, Phone reception is not available at the site so if you get lost you are on your own.
It is approximately 29KM from Quairading, near the turn off to Wamenusking East Road and Simpson Road
Small blue sign at the turn off to the sports club which is opposite the Phone exchange.
It is just off the Quairading Corrigin Road on the left, small sports club with basic facilities, shelter, basic kitchen (which you can not use for the camp cooking competition, its for breakfast and the people not in the camp cooking competition) BBQ, seats etc.
It is along the rabbit proof fence and has a small information stop about 3Km back towards Quairading complete with a few rabbit recipes for anyone who forgot their recipe.

PS don't go to Wamenusking as listed on the map or Google search as it is about 5km west of the sports club!

Wamenusking Sports Club charge $10 head for camping at the facility. Support regional sports clubs and bring the family and have a great night camping in the bush with some facilities.

At the meeting last night a motion was passed that the club would cover the $10 entry fee for paid up club members attending the Camp cook-off.
The paid up member should register their attendance so the club can get an idea as to numbers.
Friends and other non memberswill be charged the $10 which goes to a good cause in that it supports rural sporting venues such as this one.
This is a must attend event with a great ride, fun activities great prizes and eye opening talent on display.

Just to add some qualification to Bill's update on the club subsidy for the camp cook off. We agreed the club would pay for the first X members who register for the camp cook off. This number will likely be 20 and registration will be enabled soon. This limit serves 2 purposes 1 it encourages members to register early, 2 it gives the club a fixed budget to work to.
