After the tragic loss of my beloved Winston who fell off my bike around Wandering a while ago and is now wondering around Wandering looking for a new home I now have a new mascot.

Many thanks to Snaga and Gill who this morning at Cats presented me with Bluey. Bluey is a small brown bear and came complete with a genuine leather flying jacket and flying helmet.

I have named him after Bluey Truscott the famous Australian WW2 fighter pilot and he will now travel with me and Baby Blue on future sorties into the great unknown.(suitably harnessed of course)

Yes Folks, There are some nice people in the club 8)

Sorry that Winston did not find his way home and great news to see that you have a new best friend.

My father served at bases with Bluey Truscott during WWII. A number of the pilots would be asked to bring bottled beer back in their planes when their flights took them to strips near licensed premises. Bluey was never asked to undertake this task because whilst he was a brilliant pilot he was very poor at landings and the bottled beer did not survive. I hope your Bluey spends his time with his nose in the air and any time on the ground is on the lounge room carpet.

Thanks Bozo and isn't it fantastic that the mere mention of a guys name can trigger so many memories and anecdotes.

I bet your father had a hatful of stories to tell?
