TRAITOR ??

Post by Swampy »

Okay Guys, I will be ready for a hammering on Sunday morning from all and sundry!!...............Why you ask?...........Because I have followed in Bry's footsteps and have bought a HONDA.

Was having some issues with extreme heat blowing back onto my legs from "Baby Blue" which was bad enough to feel bad pain from the heat which had to travel through the leather of my Forma boots, Draggin Jeans and thick socks to get to my legs but Crikey it sure did!!

I did some research and found this to be a fairly common issue and apparent design fault with the F700 GS Vertical Twins with no apparent solution. Not so bad if you lived and rode in Siberia I guess?
But bad enough for me to sell it as it was taking the joy out of riding.

Baby Blue was a lovely bike in so many other ways and it was with regret that I decided to sell it so I could find another bike without it's issues.
Anyone considering buying one should consider the heat problem seriously before committing yourself.

BTW I am only telling you guys this now is because None of you Bludgers wanted to buy it off me so now you know the truth.

Would have liked another BMW but found the type of bikes I liked were way beyond my means and had to look elsewhere for a cheaper more suitable bike.

I found a Honda VFR 1200 demo available at a reduced price and traded BB in on it yesterday. Not my preferred type of bike ( Like German Pauls 1300) but it was new, 70ks, Shaft drive, Has good balance and handling for a 260kg bike and the main seller was I could place both feet flat on the ground

So I wait with eager anticipation for your response to my treacherous actions. ( Those considering buying an African Twin ) better be careful with what you say though

Meanwhile I hope this won't jeapordise my eligibility to remain in the club. Honestly love BM's, Always have, Always will but not on a pension

Let the Games begin!!

The twins are not the only ones. The F(G)650 singles also blow hot air on your legs, mostly to the right side which has the fan, also on mine being black the plastic oil/battery cover gets hot as well. The ride over east recently had the fan coming on when working it, The temperatures were in the mid 30's. Great winter bike. The R1200 is a lot better in summer.

The BMW Club Rules were written to allow those with an interest in BMW bikes to remain members. Given your investment in name tags I hope you stay on.

If you leave the average age of club members will drop significantly but so will the amount of humour...hang in there mate.

Getting your legs cooked isn't good, going off road on a monster GS (no thanks) expensive complicated machines with six cylinders & masses of unusable hp. The "core" of BMW " Airhead" is now becoming distant, & also, so will the followers fade away from whatever the marquee now stands for (I don't know)

Thank You for all your "Toasting and Roasting" remarks (pun intended) over my most treacherous behaviour of purchasing " Harry the Honda" OR "Swartz" alias "The Black Jap"? and for allowing me to remain a member.

Its what you guys contribute as individuals and as a group that makes this club work so well and is the main reason it is so successful and enjoyable to be a part of 8)

The Humour, Ribbing, Kidding, Friendship and Laughter combined with the more serious side of riding the Best Motorcycle ( Sorry Harry) in the world have contributed to bringing me a lot of joy over the last few years ( Okay bring out the bloody tissues ) and I wish to thank all of you (Okay, well some of you anyway?) for being part of a great association.

Cheers

Congrats Swampy, I guess, should I be berating you for leaving the faith? No matter, that motor is awesome! Not as smooth as the F6 but I remember coming from the F800R to the VFR1200X thinking, "is it running?"

Have to come down and stare.... where's the goddamn pictures?

Bry, I have no idea how to put pics on the Club Website so be grateful for some small things, However if you are prepared to send me your email address ( not a good idea for someone in your line of work I reckon) I will satisfy your curiosity for you!!

Alternatively rock up at Cat's one fine morning with your F6 monster 8)

Bozo, Do think I could trick some of the people for some of the time?..........I reckon I could those roundels look pretty cool on your pic!!

Swampy

The Roundels would be easy, the Honda on the screen would have to be covered by the words "Vincent Black Shadow", or a Border Run or Far Riders sticker, and the VFR down the side replaced by V nine T.

For good measure I would stick one of Thorsten's service stickers on the rear

It would not look out of place in a line up of BMW models.
