BMWMCCWA XMAS IN JULY Dinner: Sat 6th Aug at 6.30pm

The long awaited Club Shindig- Xmas in July get together with partners -( Well actually on the weekend of the 5-6 August) Is about to happen. There was some confusion as to this event actually happening with undecided venues etc spoken about. Well as your new VP I have contacted the Mundaring Weir Hotel and have indicated an interest in having the function at their premises. It seems the dates 5-6 Aug are the next available free booking that they can manage with up to 40 people. There are 10 hotel rooms available for those that don't want to drive home and want to treat the other half to a night out. We will investigate further accommodation options, camping etc at the hotel or nearby.
http://www.mundaringweirhotel.com.au/accommodation.html
I indicated there was to be a sit down meal and some accommodation would be required. Jens the owner has crossed off these dates for us so we can get back to him with interested numbers so that he can come up with a suitable price and Xmas in July ( August) menu. Once we have an indication over the next week as to the numbers of those interested in attending and we get a substantial number so the hotel owner can come back with an appropriate menu and cost per head we will make it a goer.
So don't sit on the fence......... Make it happen by letting us know if you wish to participate, on the proviso condition that we come up with adequate numbers which determines if it happens at all. So keep in mind a reasonable cost per head is determined by the numbers that will be attending
so get onto it.
Discussing this with the Pres, although it is in the first week in August we feel its close enough to July to count for Xmas in July.
In order to make this happen we would like members to indicate their preference as to Friday or Sat night and if they will be bringing partners/ friends etc Please add a name to attend and number of others you might be bringing by attaching to this thread
We have a week to get back to the pub owner to preserve the booking....

Mike a lot of members have been asking for the committee to organise this event. We have been waiting to hear back from the pub regarding using this venue. They are very booked out and this was the only date they could offer us close to July, as weekends before and after are booked up to the end of August.
We thought this venue would be a good venue for the Xmas in July as it is close enough to Perth to drive home or allow some overnight accomodation. Apparently they have great food also.
I agree the border run is also a club function, but many members don't participate in the ride and probably would be in town during that W/E.I understand that there are about up to 10 club members participating on the border ride out of a membership of 200.
As indicated we are putting out an expression of interest for those club members that may wish to attend the venue that is available on this weekend. We will hold the event if we get the numbers wanting to attend if there isn't enough interest we may have a substitute event later into the year renamed "not the Xmas in July dinner"

I will be on the border run, (only a few of us) I understand that as an organiser it can be difficult to have everything slot in nicely, I don't mind missing the dinner, which is a great opportunity for newer members to make up the numbers & get more of a feel of the club. Not far from home, an easy evening with drinks, into your tent & not having to ride home....Be there.

Bozo led a Sunday ride this morning and we checked out the Mundaring Weir Hotel. It certainly is a great venue. We checked alternative accomodation options and there is a campground in the National park about 1.5 km away for those that want to tent up.
As Guy said its a great opurtunity for those club members not going on the border run to get together with partners around a roaring fire with some good food and nice surroundings as we haven't had one of these get togethers for a while now.
Unfortunately this venue is booked to almost he end of Aug for big groups apart from the 5th and 6th.
We have to get indications from members wishing to attend by the end of next week so we can confirm with the hotel if we will be having the function or not as they can't hold the booking for longer. At breakfast this morning a few people indicated they would be goers.
Please put your name down on this thread if you want to be an attendee so we can decide if it's on or not......

For different reasons I can't go to the border this year so this sounds good for me. I pick the Saturday night.
Cheers

For those that have shown an expression of interest , we have 16 confirmed that they would attend on the 6th of July. I have booked a room for us so for those that want a room get in quick it will cost you $140. Some of the rooms have 4 beds if anyone wants to double up. Rooms are available from 2.30 onwards
All rooms have an open fireplace with wood supplies. As mentioned if interested in camping there is a reasonable campground about 1.5 km around the corner in the National park (within walking distance)
Doris and myself will probably go for a walk on one of the walking trails before the dinner which I suggested would commence at 7pm sharp.
The hotel will hold room bookings open for us up till Friday so if you want a room get onto it. The catering manager is going to phone me with dinner costs when we get final numbers. I suggested a $30/head would probably be acceptable for our Xmas in July dinner.
So if you are coming let me know. It will be a great opportunity for new members to meet socially other club members with partners so don't be shy put your name down.
