Konyukhov is on record to smash the world solo around the world record in a balloon ,earlier today he was 3k off the coast traveling at 200k/hour
He needs to cross at the starting latitude which was Northern
May be a Good excuse for a ride and a chase

Jamie

The balloon has dropped from BMW GS speed to Suzuki DR speed or even Honda postie bike speed.

My guess is that he has another 7 hours to go and will land near Northam.

You could go to the tuning day and then go balloon chasing.

I walked out the back of the house at about 11.50am this morning and looked up and saw him going past, nice big silver balloon.
Great effort and mostly over water as well.
He was really moving fast when he turn North for the finally run back to WA by the dot spacing on his tracker.

Simply brilliant
I made it to a high point at the end of the street ,no need it was over head in a break in the clouds I managed to have a visual and coordinate on the iPad till he was over bakers hill/clack line from out the front of home in Bayswater
I did ring Northam tourist bureau ,and they said the consenus was to land close to Kalgoolie in the open as he needed 1.5 k without obstructions to land just before sunset
It looked like it was a great chase to see him down safely

Just back from Bonnie Rock.

Amazing day balloon chasing .....first sighting was in Northam as he completed his RTW.

Followed him travelling via Meckering and Bencubbin then onto back roads.

Arrived at the balloon as he was getting out and a ute was being dragged by the balloon.

Helped collapse the balloon....got some great photos...will post.

A 12 hour bike ride covering 850 km...well worth it to see him hug his son.
