Solid start for Toby Price 1 minute off the leader in 17th place with Todd Smith in 20th. It seems no one is keen to lead off on tomorrow's difficult stage.
Rod Faggotter is 26th and Matt Hart 138th. Matt Hart finished 64th but copped a 15 minute penalty for an engine change to drop to 138th.

I heard the first stage was going to be very wet and was a bit anxious as to how the hard charging Price was going to fare and whether a lapse in concentration would be costly. I would not discount him improving in the next special even if the rivers are running a banker.
Not sure that Lois Lane was part of the event today, probably still moseying around Kent.
No coverage of Hart, Faggotter and Smith on SBS that I noticed.
Will be more circumspect (and lethargic) in future.

Good day for the Aussies with Toby a clear first on the second stage putting him first overall. He hit speeds of up to 180 kph on the dirt.
Rod Faggotter came in 10th.

Price out after crashing near the end of the fourth stage and breaking a leg. He was leading and trying to make up time lost yesterday.
Faggotter out with engine trouble.
Smith had a good day finishing 13th with Hart finishing 54th.

Bugger for TP.
That only leaves Chad R. for me to cheer for this season. A superstar at his peak but unfortunately those days mostly behind him now.
Edit... dunno why this site auto sensors his surname (R e e d) to the first letter. Is it a profanity? I'd be profoundly disturbed if it is

I would suspect that your spelling corrector thinks you are referring to the Republic of Chad in Africa and its abbreviation Chad R. . The term R e e d, or Reid, does have an "urban meaning" but pretty innocuous as a handsome male who behaves in a sophisticated way....the use of the term in Australia has been patchy given the rotund and bald profiles of both Chopper Read and George Reid (our fourth Prime Minster who has a sophisticated and handsome town named after him on the Trans Australian Railway line).

Beautiful work there Boze but its not my computer and I'm not buying the Chad Republic offering or especially the handsome man proposition. Its a curious thing. Type a profanity like "Censored" (it was the f word) and we get the censored word substituted. But type Chad's surname and it changes to R.
Off to the nags shortly. I expect to read a well-researched and plausible answer Bozo when I get home tonight.
Profoundly disturbed you profane individual. The town is yours to have good sir.

My Republic of Chad explanation faltered when I posted the response as the spell check altered a R. nowhere near a Chad.
I give up.
