Tour Metisse, Tour Batard, Tour Hybride or Tour Melange?

I suspect that it should be "Radtour Mischlingshund" if it is a cycling tour near the Rhine.

G'Day Slackers.

Time to pack...

My youngest son (Rhys) and I are off to cycle Euro Velo 15, a 1,400km cycle route following the Rhine River from source to sea. It starts in Switzerland, travels thru France and Germany and flows into the sea in the Netherlands.

Link for Euro Velo 15 is here:

http://www.rhinecycleroute.eu/

We arrive in Zurich on Friday and catch a number of trains to the start point in the Swiss Alps.

Route is here:

Some people might think you spoil yourself. Still, if you don't, who will?

Enjoy the ride.

It should be....I know there is a huge 10km climb on the first day and some minor ones after that but in the main, it will be a very gentle slope down (wouldn't be noticeably). This is Rhys' introduction to cycle touring...I wanna take it easy on the boy. How hard can it be to keep up with a 60 yo man???

Good find Bozo...always on the lookout for the next adventure. The thing about cycle touring is, you can drink as much red wine (or beer) and eat as much cheese as you like and you'll still never put on any weight.

Here goes....strap yourself in.

Image
Flew to Bangkok and had a 9 hour stop over....then 11 hours to Zurich. I noticed we avoided air space over certain countries. Good thinkin'

Rhys...assembling his bike at the Airport. From here, it was a short walk to the train station co-located at the Airport. 4 trains and we arrived at Andermatt in the Swiss Alps.

Not all trains will accept bikes...those that do have them hanging like slaughtered beef in certain designated carriages.

Andermatt...it is currently late summer in the Northern hemisphere. Everywhere you look here is like a postcard.

The switchbacks in the background is the road outta here for us...great for motorbikes; not so great for cyclists.

A cross section of our road tomorrow (Sunday). The start of our cycling leg. First 10 km is going to be a bastard....after that it is mainly downhill. A 90 km day tomorrow arriving in Chur late afternoon.

Stats to date;
Distance - 16km
