Video - Tour de Mongrel Dog

Postby Digger » Mon Oct 02, 2017 6:20 am

G' Day Slackers,
It's been an interesting last couple of months....nearly perishing in the Outback to cycle touring in Europe. Now I am about to leave for the BMW Safari. I keep tellin' you; so much to do, so little time.
Here is my contribution to the cycle touring fraternity...a 12 minute video of the cycle tour in Europe.
Enjoy.

Excellent vid.

Drone shots are stunning.

Not that we stopped and partook (is that a word)....certainly no shortage of Weinhaus in the rest of the country.

Love yer verk MDV :P

Awesome drone vision. It's the future. Keep it up while you can, before some noddy with a uniform takes it off you... :|

In India, drones can be confiscated, owners can cool their heels in jail for a couple of days.

Oh, the fun police are everywhere :|

We got busted by the Gendarmes in France while taking the footage of the 'Fortified Town'....some local dobbed us in and the local coppers said they could confiscate the drone. We pleaded ignorance and said we were just a couple of dumb Aussies who didnt know the local rules. We got away with it. It is better to ask for forgiveness then to beg for permission.

I figured it had to happen one of these days. It was just a matter of time...

It is better to ask for forgiveness then to beg for permission.

In this case, it could be begging from the inside of a nasty foreign cell  Can't say if that's better!

We're lucky in Oz having so much fabulous country away from populated areas.

I got spooked....my plan was (and still is) to cycle tour Sri Lanka in Jan/Feb 2018. I was planning to bring the drone. Been doin' some research and might pay a hefty penalty if i don't jump thru some hoops first. Those hoops include getting approval and permission from their Civil Aviation Authority, Defence Dept and some others (local Police etc). The application process does not come cheap either. $200AUD just to get them to look at the Application and then no guarantees it will be successful. Probably not worth the risk for a bit of footage to supplement any video. I might just have to get creative some other way.

Looking Good Steve:

January is a great month to travel in Sri Lanka, with the beaches along the southern and western coasts all experiencing plenty of sunshine and minimal rainfall throughout the month, although rainfall is expected further to the north and east, especially in coastal regions. Expect average temperatures around 30 °C.

To the east, the north-eastern monsoon should be starting to wind down, meaning that the National Parks of Yala and Wilpattu will also be hot and dry, making January a good month for wildlife sightings as the animals gather around water holes.

The central regions of Kandy, the hills of Tea Country, and to a lesser extent the Cultural Triangle, are likely to be receiving a little rainfall. Whilst the usual warm weather is expected in the Cultural Triangle, temperatures in the Tea Country, especially around Nuwara Eliya, remain cooler due to the higher altitude (avg temp: 20 °C). Cooler temperatures and minimal rainfall make January a good month for climbing Adam's Peak.
