Probably worth giving Dave Munro at Beter Motorcycles a call. I think it was he who gave me the name of a business in ? Myaree/Melville who does that sort of thing. He also could advise on products.

It depends on how good a job you want done - you can have it professionally done and because it is very labour intensive can be expensive - but it does give you an almost or good as new look. For the headers another option is to use 600 wet and dry (wet) and gently rub it down - dont use a lot of pressure just keep it wet and it will get all the brown off and return it to a polished stainless steel look - but still with the 'blued' look. If you a stronger grit or too much pressure you run the risk of leaving little swirl patterns in the steel. If you want it better than that then you can use metal polish and a lot of rubbing. The professionals use a polishing wheel and a lot of patience.

I got a bench grinder with polishing wheels and polish, if you want, I can give it a go.

I used a business in Myaree called Metaglo to polish the full system on my '82 R100 and they did an immaculate job, at what I considered a most reasonable price. Additionally, they sold me a polishing product 'Lightning Shine Metal Polish' by Wicked Products which I have used since (probably not as often as I should!) and even with sparing use returns the pipes to a high level of shine. Without reservation (and with no alternative agenda) I'd recommend both service and product. Cheers
