Crowded in York

Post by Bozo »

An excellent turn out at Catalano's on Sunday with Ray's motorcycling brother visiting from Europe, Noel dropping in and getting great feedback on his progress and his birthday and Cookie reporting on a very successful event at Midland last weekend. Rod Rocket Peter brought along a very new model of Kawasaki 1000.

Eleven riders and a pillion headed to the York Motorcycle Fair via Talbot. Rod Rocket Peter, Multi Media Mark + Rose, 3 Amps Nick, Mick S, David P, Ralph, His Royal Griceness, Cameron, Rainer, R90S Mark and Bozo cleared the traffic for a run up Welshpool Road to zig zag through the Bickley Valley. It was a bit of a shaky start for the ride leader with a top box coming open. A stop at Mundaring Weir for an adjustment of comms and safety gear was followed by running the gauntlet of masses of bikes, police, radars and slow moving highway traffic. After a stop at the Lakes we found solitude on Talbot West Road and Talbot Road before returning to the mayhem at York.

Thousands of people and motorcycles were at the York Motorcycle Fair. Some very brave riders were racing a short circuit with dust covered adverse camber corners that led to a lot of locked sliding rear wheels. Another set of brave souls were jumping 10 metres into the air to land an inclined bouncy castle.

Part of the group had headed to Bakers Hill earlier with a second tranche heading to the Bakers Hill Bakery. We ran into Drew who had also been at York.

The run home was via Coates Road, Linley Valley Road and Liberton Road. The ride ended at Mount Helena.

Thanks to R90S Mark for running as tail end Charlie and a flexible group.

Brilliant day to be out on the bikes and an interesting event.
