Hi guys The Steven Walter Foundation M/C ride around Australia leaves Tenterfield NSW 0n the 4th Oct starting with 50 bikes 11 pillions and 10 support vehicles and 2 film crews. This is a charity raising event with money raised going towards child cancer research. ]
See web site http://www.metricrider.com.au/steven-walter-foundation/
I met some of the participants whom I've kept in contact with since I was involved in the "2006 Postibike challenge" that went from Brisbane across Australia via outback tracks to Alice Springs.
Donna was one of the 13 people who had to be aero-medically evacuated from a outback airstrip with broken bones and other injuries following an altercation with a bulldust hole, which Honda postibikes don't handle all that well. She is one of the participants in this ride taking on a Ducati Streetfighter for the trip. She has asked me to let the WA.BMW club know about the event as they would like some support from our club. They will be arriving in Perth coming down from Geralton on the 21 Oct. Having a couple of days in Perth then moving on to Margaret River on the 23Oct which is a Saturday. We can join them on their onward trip for as far as you feel like riding. The trip is planed to finish on 5 Nov at Threadbow. To date they have raised over $200000.00 in donations for The Steven Walter Foundation . I hope to do some of the ride with them over the W/E and I am sure others may want to also join in. They have a web page which is continually updated covering the ride as they move around Australia via the top end. http://boltaroundoz.blogspot.com/
I will talk to the next meeting on Mon 11Oct to get a feel as to weather or not the club wishes to give them some support

The riders are now in Port Hedland and are making their way down thru WA and should be arriving in Perth on Thursday. See the blog site for some great photos and some of their experiences of the trip so far.
As mentioned at the monthly meeting last Mon night , BMW club members are invited to ride down to Margaret River as part of the Steven Walter Foundation around Australia Ride group over the coming weekend, leaving Sat morning.
Anyone contemplating donating to the fundraising the group is taking on should go to the Steven Walter Foundation around Australia Ride web site for details of how to deposit funds into this good cause.
Those that may be interested in the ride , could we have names etc as to who is going so a start point and possible overnight accomodation can be considered, all depending on how many wish to go for the ride.

Is anyone interested  in riding down to Margaret River Sat morning coming back to Perth Sun arvo. Let me know by Fri night. Ph 0411222893 and will organise start time and start location. Will ride with the 53 STEVEN WALTER FOUNDATION AROUND AUSTRALIA RIDERs down to Margaret River and socialise with them Sat night. Accomodation is still available at Margaret river, see wotif.com for last minute deals. Caravan park is also available. Could be a great W/E mixing a ride and catching up with fellow riders who have now clocked up 10000kms so far on their around Oz ride and also experiencing some of WA's premier tourist attractions (and also there are lots of BMWs with the group) lets show these guys some WA hospitality and also support the charity

As the only club member going along for a ride with the StevenWalter Foundation ride on the W/E I would like to report that we had a great ride and great wheather on the way down to Margaret river. On Sat I took the tourists down the long way which basically avoided the freeway and took in , Dunsborough, Bunker Bay for lunch and Caves road which the tourists seemed to enjoy. Party time Sat night and then went on to Augusta on Sun and watched whales do their thing. Came back up the main drag. Nice ride for a bitumin trip pity no one else was interested. The 53 riders continue their ride heading Albany Esperence and then Adelaide, Melbourne and finally Threadbow
