For those of you who couldn't make the club's January General Meeting on Monday the 10th of Jan, Ben otherwise known as Ben800GS (with the 21" front wheel, best bike in the world etc.), organizer of many excellent off road adventures and author of numerous ride reports, presented the club with a very nice Trophy to be known as "The BMWMCCWA Street Cred Trophy" to be awarded for the "Maybe I shouldn't have done that" category. Ben would like this Trophy to be awarded annually with the recipient to be determined by the committee.

As part of the process of awarding the trophy nominations will be requested in writing, by email or on the club forum. The nomination should provide a brief but sufficiently descriptive account of the circumstances for which the rider has been nominated. The committee will collate the best of these nominations each year and record them on an annual nominations list that will be made available on the club website and so contribute to a brief and hopefully entertaining history and account of members activities year by year.

One of the nominations will be selected by the committee each year to be the recipient of this prestigious award. The winner will have their name and the year recorded on the trophy, which will be displayed for general viewing in a place to be determined by the committee. The winners story will of course head up the list of nominations for the year displayed on the clubs website.

So without further ado you are invited to submit your nominations for the 2010 year award. Just one more condition - you may nominate Ben (goodness knows he deserves to be nominated ) however as the donor of the trophy he cannot be the recipient. At least not in the first year.

So come on get the nominations rolling in

Others can better tell the story, however my vote is to Dean for the most recent incident involving him and Ben.

Or then again, as just recently reminded, perhaps it should go to Cookie for his ability to make 2 bikes fall over while stationary on the first leg of the Phillip Island ride. My R80 still has the bruises!

Thanks for the nominations so far, please provide some additional details if you can, remember we want the best nominations to be recorded as a form of short annual history of the clubs mis adventures So each nomination needs sufficient details to make sense to someone unfamiliar with the person or event and who may be reading the nomination some time in the future.

Did Ben make the rule about the donor of the trophy not being eligible in the first year? I wonder why!

Whilst doing a reconnaissance ride to Neale Junction for the Desert Raid 2011 Rally.
For the people that don't know, Steve flipped his GSA and scattered all his belongings across the desert.

This ones for Cookie
On an October day
He came off on the blacktop
In a comprehensive way.

Just south west of Nathalia
On a bend with a dip
The RT it ran wide
And he abandoned the ship!

There were bits of bike strewn
Down the road and in the bush
Packed him off in an ambulance
With a bruise upon his toosh.

His composure throughout this trauma
Was a lesson to us all
And he's back on the new RT
With a low seat, cos he's small!

Thanks for the moving tribute Dave, very appropriate.

It's no secret that it was my lucky day and how fortunate I was, to have my fellow riders on hand to look after me, again thank you to all concerned - much appreciated.
