At the Feb 2012 club meeting Lefty reminded everyone that the GG trophy was yet to be awarded for 2011/12?
Robin reminded us of the history and intent of the award, basically summed up that it should be awarded for a ride or more precisely to a member leading a memorable ride and who exhibits the qualities of someone who just likes getting out and riding for the joy of it.

The trophy is to be awarded at the March 2012 GM

So given no one else has posted a nomination I will put one up. My nomination goes to Chris G
He is probably one of the clubs most regular and consistent riders. Quietly spoken he often ends up leading others to all sorts of out of the way places. He is happy to ride with both novice and experienced companions and is always cheerful about it to boot. Just his Sundy past, Chris led a group of 6 up Mt Dale way finding a great mix of roads and goat tracks to entertain the hangers on (literally in some cases  ) There are pictures on the forum under ride reports for those who have not seen.

So there is one nomination in! now it's up to the rest of you to suggest some others....or is it a one horse/DR race

Must ride BMW's not DR's.

I'm sure I don't need to remind you that all the DR riders also ride BMW's
However if you don't approve of my nomination Old Betsy I suggest you put your nomination in!
And come on the rest of you, how hard is it to nominate someone for leading you on a good ride?

I would like to nominate COOKIE for organising and safely leading many memorable and enjoyable rides on the black top since I became a member last year, Including the ride to New Norcia for the Christmas Party.

Well Done Graeme and I am looking forward to joining you again on any future rides you plan and organise!!

Cheers

Agreed Swampy,

Cookie has lead us up the garden path many a time, and has managed to get everyone home again.

Unlike other more nefarious navigator types who have a penchant for leaving a trail of destruction in their wake :)

So I concur with the nomination for Cookie.

I nominate Mike Stothers for the Border Run last year. Not only did we have a great ride via Ongerup, Point Anne and Esperance, he took Tom, Robbo and myself on an all adventure back from Eucla via the Coach Road.

On leaving Border Town, we travelled the Coach Road for 10 hours and by the end of it were a grand total of 200 kms. closer to Perth. The next day we made our way back home via Hyden Norseman Road arriving back in Perth at 9.00pm that evening.

At the end of all of this Mike made the effort to complete a terrific ride report. Please take the time to read his 2011 Border Run Report and you tube post to find out more.

We all had a great time, especially Robbo who couldn't stop smiling.

Regards

JP

One of the most exciting rides I have been on in years was the ride from Eucla on the Coach Road. Although there has been some very good rides I have to give my vote to Mike Stothers.

Cheers Tom

I have to agree, it was the best ride i've been on, fantastic, and we saw camels.
So Mike gets my vote too.

Robbo.

Well the heat really is on for this nomination! We will know the recipient by the end of the GM on Tuesday. Now, WHO can tell me who was awarded this trophy in 2009? Nigel Chamberlain received the award in 2008, and McFarkle in 2010 but who can step forward and tell us who won it in 2009? John

My vote goes to Chris Grice. He always leads great rides. He is one of the most, if not the most consistent show-up-ready-to ride club members. I experienced another Grice Classic a few weeks ago down to Dwellingup in a few showers with new tracks and roads to boot. Awesome.
