I have tried the ear plugs from the guy in Bicton, wasn't wildly excited about them, Dean, who is in Tassie and hard to get hold of for a month or so said there is someone in Cottosloe that also makes them, anyone got any contact details?

I'm pretty happy with mine, but not had them very long, so don't know how they will last.

Gday Bowe
What was it about them you're not so keen on? Is it the fit or they way you have to fit them or the amount of sound they do/don't block out?
I've had mine about 3 yrs they're standing up to abuse OK. IIRC - the Ear Mold guy said to bring mine back if 'the fit' wasn't comfortable as he can tweak the shape a small amount.
FWIW - when I looked into types of earplugs about 3yrs ago it came down to 2 styles - off the shelf, squeeze and push in style or custom made injection mould style (DIY or use service provider) like Ear Molds. My guess would be that the Cottesloe guy would do the same custom fit as Ear Mold but with a different brand of compound.

I got some made (for MP3 Player) and used them daily riding my bike (mountain bike)...this included cycling overseas as well. Used them extensively on two trips across Oz and in my opinion, they are one of the best investments i have made....i have the advantage of a big screen and can hear music clearly up to about 130kph. When not listening to music, they still block noise very effectively. I got mine from a bloke who works from home in Carine - Ph 94483700. They weren't cheap but have gone the distance. Would highly recommend them.

Hey Guys I reckon I can make these ear plugs using dental impression mouldings and casting the impression with medical silicon at a fraction of the price these ear plug guys are charging. Anyone interested in having a go contact me.

There was a bloke at work, a while back, who decided to do a similar thing.
Just pumped his lughole full of industrial silicone and waited for it to go off.
Messy and stupid but no real harm done in the end.

Bowe, are you after ear plugs just for the hearing protection, or are you after that plus listening to a sound source? IE mp3, GPS, phone etc, because you'll need to consider the speakers.
Swampie got a pair of the ear plugs at the recent bike show for around $60, however the speaker set up can come in around $250..just a thought

Bowe came and had some ear plugs made at my dental surgery. They seemed as good as if not better than those that the ear plug guys are making and charging a huge price for. Ask Bowe what he thinks.
