Prompt.
I've been reading the forum and would like to ask: Is it possible to travel around Australia, along the shore of the ocean, the BMW R1200GSA? How long this might take? Is there any gasoline on the road?

Sorry for my bad english ....

Hello Sergey,

It is possible to travel around Australia following the coast in many places but not all the way. This would be on a combination of bitumen and dirt roads and tracks on a 1200 GS. But if you mean to travel around Australia on the beach no it is not possible. Some places you can ride on the beach if you like but the 1200 is heavy lifting/pushing and you would be doing a lot of that. Other places are too remote, cliffs, mangrove swamp, rivers to cross etc.

However there are many good rides to coastal destinations and inland to occupy the adventurous tourer.

Regards
JonO

PS nice looking website 8) but our Russian is no good

Thank you for your response.
I wanted to pass along the route Sydney - Melbourne - Perth - Darwin - Brisben - Sydney. What do you think: this is real?

On our site, we discussed the question of the impossibility of translation into English Forum. Many people in the Russian forum, talking in slang bikers. This is not a set of words to be translated. Excuse us.

Hallo Sergey

We always like to welcome overseas riders; we would hope you will visit our club.
Firstly, you should come around April/May, so that you travel in the south before the winter rains start. Then you can do the northern parts in the winter (June/July) when it is dry and cool. Otherwise you could start in the north, ending in a southern city after the rains (September/October)

THere is a BMW agent in Darwin, Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide

Australia is very large, with a few very beautiful sights: look up
The Pinnacles (Cervantes)
Kalbarri
Coral Bay
Bungle Bungles
THe Olgas
Uluru, Queensland Tablelands
Snowy Mountains
Great Ocean Road
Nullarbor plain, Flinders ranges Barrossa valley etc John

Thank you John, for the valuable information. Now I look at the map of Australia and am trying to plan a route.
I beg my pardon for the Russian question. Crime is on the roads of Australia? What is to be feared on the roads of Australia?

Yours
Sergey

Hi camping is usally ok,its a good practice if by yourself to camp well of the road.but i have never had any trouble. The main thing is do not ride at night time as there can be a lot of wild life mainly Kangeroos, cattle sheep etc. the road houses or gas stations and towns mostly have caravan parks where you can camp and shower etc.Check the distance between them for your fuel range.Carry a reasonable amount of water Australia in places can be very remote and dry.Australia has a lot to see Goldie

Hi Sergey,

You might like to check out some ride reports from our BMW Club members.

There are many links to trips around / across / through this great land, Australia, from our club members.

They are back on our website at: http://www.bmwmccwa.asn.au/report.html

It's a great way to fill a few hours. Great photos and stories :P

I, for one, did a 'Round Oz' trip back on 2010: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=602474

The AdvRider forum is a great spot to check out any country in the world, including yours :)

And I can only echo John's sentiments. You are always welcome here in Perth Western Australia.

I'm sure we could find a place for you to camp with beer in the fridge for a while.

Cheers
Nev

Sergey,

Australia is a great country for riding. The distances are equal to or greater than eastern Russia. My husband and I rode from London to Vladivostok in 2006.

To assist with your planning of any international ride you might like to look at the website www.horizonsunlimited.com This is a great forum for motorcycle adventurers such as yourself.

We'll have the vodka ready for your arrival to Perth!

Thank you Tony! Very interesting site.
Now decide a serious problem - how to bring my BMW GSA on the territory of Australia? What is necessary to prepare the documents? How do I get long-term visa? In one month, I do not have time to travel and see your country. If you know how to throw the bike from Russia to Australia, advise. I'll read your personal website, that would find the answer to this question.
.... and more ... What tires is better to take: Karoo or K60 Scout?

Hello everyone! Today was watching tv. In the news program show the horrors in Australia. Flood and disaster in Australia. Crocodiles and snakes on the streets of cities. Water takes away the house. With roads washes cars. Tell me, what is happening with you? When in Russia the winter in Australia must be summer. In the summer it's hot and dry. With respect. Sergey
