Road Riding

Post by rottodaze »

I am a newish member to the club and all I seem to read about is from those who love riding off road on their monster GS's. Not much seems to be happening for road riders who love the tarmac. I am a keen road rider and own my own business so can be free in the week and on Saturdays if anyone fancies a ride. I have some great routes both in the Wheatbelt and down south for day runs. I ride a K1200R( and dont dawdle), usually like to go for 250ks plus, so if anyone would like to join me I can be contacted on 0402 838 952.

Its a wonder I did not catch you on the Brookton Highway, same run out of Perth to Brookton and the Pingerly, Youmaning Dam, Pingerly, Boyagin Rock, back to Perth on the fly. K1200S.
The dirt bike is a XR600R for the dirt riding, getting the best of both worlds.
Can be friends with everyone!
We seem to alternate sealed and dirt on the Sunday rides depending on whos going or split into groups.
May see you on the road.

Some of us GS riders go for tarmac rides - sometimes, between dirt sections.
Can you tell us more about your "Great Routes" in the Wheatbelt and Down South???

A good day out for a GS Rider. Perth along the South West Highway towards Pinjarra. Here you can take in the loop with a left turn at Serpentine towards Jarradale taking in the Serpentine Dam before rejoining the SW Highway. Turn left towards Pinjarra, just before there turn left and follow the road to Dwellingup. Great soup and steak sandwich at the Dwellingup Inn. Continue through the main road through the forest towards Boddington.A really quick road. About 10 ks before you reach Boddington at Marradong there is a right turn signposted to Quindanning. The little pub there is a nice stop. Continue a few Ks past the pub until you come to a T junction.
Here you have two choices.
1. For the off roaders turn right for a couple of Ks and then on your left hand side you will see a finger post sign for Collie on a dirt road. This road is quite long
and views are good (35/40 Ks) It then rejoins the main road where you turn right towards Collie.
2. For the road rider at the Quindanning T junction turn left signposted Williams. Follow this Road for 5/6 Ks and you will see a right turn signposted Collie. A really quick road although single track in places , proably 80ks in length.
At Collie I follow the road to Brunswick Junction to the SW Highway and home. If you want to extent the route then go from Collie To Donnybrook, Boyanup, right to Dardnaup and onto Bunbury.
3. If Im heading down south then I go from Collie to Mumbalup and follow the road to Boyup Brook and on to Bridgetown. The Bridgetown to Nannup road is a pearler, good 50ks. I usually go from Nannup down Sues Road and overnight in Busselton but from Nannup you can head down to Pemberton and Denmark. You fills your tank and takes your choice.

Hope that helps. For a Wheatbelt run check out my earlier post starting at Gin Gin.

That road from Bridgetown - Nannup - Balingup is my play ground I live in Bridgetown, so It's a a regular run for me on my GSA.
I recon I could even keep up with you.
In fact I'm heading there in about 1 hour
Next time your heading down this way, PM me and I'll show you some other "Great Routes"

??? What chain???

Hi Rotto,

Not all road riders are on the couches - I'm currently planning my own trip for next winter riding from Sydney up to Cairns, across to Darwin and following the WA coast back home to Donnybrook.

Always looking for ride partners but not into setting any land speed records - for me it's about the journey not the desination.

PM me if you come down this way and want some company.
