Hello fellow Beemers

A fleeting glimpse of Bozo, 7 participants, 8 bikes, 2 cars and 8 spectators, made for a great night of cooking up a storm around the campfire at Bally Bally last night:)

Thunderstorms managed to skirt around the area, but did not affect our plans.

Not having heard of Bally Bally before I thought I would try and find out a bit of its history.

Bally Bally is an interesting location with a connection to Wooleen.

One of the early Bally Bally Pioneers being David Kilpatrick who married Francis Louisa Hancock who was a great aunt of Lang Hancock. Wooleen was run by the Sharpe's. Lang's sister Peg Hancock married David Sharpe of Wooleen.

The Kilpatricks were the host for the local member, Charles Harper, when he opened the Bally Bally Hall on a very hot day in November 30, 1904. David Kilpatrick was also the Chair of the Hall Committee that tried to pay back a loan for its construction. The hall had cost 361 pounds .....much more than the Government Grant of 208 pounds. They also lashed out and purchased a piano for 50 pounds increasing the debt.

Bally Bally is named after the Kilpatrick's holding "Bally Bally Farm" developed in the 1870's.

Good to drop in on the Camp Cook Off at another historic location.

.....and the piano, or a piano, is still in the hall, although badly in need of tuning.
