Unlucky 13 for JP

13 riders shrugged off the risk of storms and took the Tonkin Highway to Byford. Good to see Snaga's bike back together and running well. The group included Al on a Honda with 90km on the clock, K1Dave on a Harley, a rash of GS's, several airheads and a couple of K bikes.

Only 12 made it up the Nettleton Road Hill. JP's new purchase was not turning over and despite Wightman's ministrations failed to fire.
The RAC and a new battery resolved the issue.

A large male emu and four, metre high, chicks caused Bozo to utter a Baby Blue swearword as he braked to avoid them. Snaga had the lot run across the road in front of him but no wildlife was harmed in this Sunday excursion.

Jarrahdale was full of motorcycles but we had a farther destination and travelled the resealed Kingsbury Drive before a quick commute to North Dandalup. A pleasant ride through the Del Park Road twisties was followed by high calorific refuelling at the Blue Wren Café in Dwellingup.

Jens, Dinga and Peter headed straight home with the remaining eight riders (plus Trish as GS Bill's pillion) checked out Nanga Road. Just after the Murray River a sapling had fallen right across the road. The group removed it from the pavement and were soon into the area where the recent bush fire had jumped the road. The area burned was very extensive but apart from a few spots where burning logs had fallen onto the road and been removed the road surface was in good condition.

From Waroona we scuttled up the South West Highway to Pinjarra turning onto Patterson Road and then on to Corio Road to enjoy its sweeping bends. The arrow straight Hopeland Road was the connector to Karnup Road before tipping us out onto the Kwinana Freeway.

Brilliant weather for a ride with only a few spots of rain.

Sorry that JP missed out on the ride. Thanks to John for cutting his ride short to try to assist JP.

My only defence is that I went through Donnybrook on a recent ride and also rode past Jarrahwood on that ride.

Yes, a strange one. The clock was running fine, but turning the switch on, made the clock stop and occasionally the dash lights would flicker dimly. We didn't suspect the battery because it started strongly leaving Cats, usually they cark themselves slowly...... We were making some headway when we were joined by the ebullient Chris Grice who dived in as well. The RAC truck pulled in and Chris and I went for a nice little country ride to Rockingham, craftily dodging the worst of the rain showers. In our work to get into the headlight, behind the bikini fairing, to closely inspect the switch and the fuses, we discovered that Jack had not polished the headlight trim, so JP was able to do that little job to make the bike perfect.
