The buzz around the Bindoon Bakery table hushed as the words Jens uttered sunk in:
"when I was a young bloke in Germany, I took out a sign post, on my motorcycle"
Muttered responses included "when you put your arm around her did she seem wooden" ? "If the relationship went further and you had children would they be kindling"?
"Did she want to get primed every time you went into a bar"? "I suppose there would be advantages as she would always be straight with you and you would always know where she was heading". "If you break up with a post do you get splinters"? "No matter what she did she would always be out standing in her field".
Jens was one of the ten riders that left Catalano's this Sunday for a short ride to Bindoon and Toodyay. Others included Ariel, Bill B, GS Bill + Trish, German Paul, Sleepy Paul, Chris G, Swampy, Jono and Bozo. It was very pleasant riding weather as we rode through the Chittering Valley. As Swampy was on the ride we had to see emus but a number of the party said that as they were not trying to play in the traffic they were not worth mentioning. A section of the Chittering Valley was gravel due to road construction. Very little traffic other than other motorcycles.
The Bindoon Bakery was packed and it seemed Swampy had ordered ahead as he had a potato pie in his hand before some of the group had got their keys out of the ignition. German Paul went through all the accidents he had had in his life whilst Jens admitted after a shoulder injury he had spent part of his life as an OAP.
It was later we discovered that OAP can also stand for one armed plasterer.
Sleepy Paul said that he gave all of his mates two days notice before his marriage. All club members noted that they had been only told after the wedding clearly establishing the nature of their friendship with Sleepy Paul.
Refreshed by gossip and bakery products the gang took Dewar's Pool Road to Toodyay then deviated along Mayo Road and Liberton Road to end up at Chidlow. The ride ended at Mundaring.
A lot of humour and exaggeration, many egos were injured during the discussions around the table but no bikes were harmed in our Sunday excursion.
A great group and a happy ride.
Thanks to Swampy and Sleepy Paul for keeping us all together.

Very enjoyable ride. Makes one wonder why more club members don't join in on these Sunday rides. Great camaraderie, enjoying the WA bush, geting out of the city and appreciating how lucky we are to live in WA and of coarse getting to ride and appreciate your motorbike .
