Our choice of bike was the newly acquired [and cheap] 1994 K75 RT of dubious mileage. I had spent the past week riding her and checking out all the niggles. The engine sounded really sweet and hardly run in, so I was confident that she was OK. My other K75 RT racks were fitted and all was set.
Our daughter and her boyfriend had left on Friday and checked out a few camping spots in the area and found space at the third spot.
We opted for the SW highway and then Mornington road just past Harvey / Wokalup. That brought us out near Worsley and Gastaldo road from where we headed over the Wellington dam and the newly tarred road on the Southern side to South road. Gravel track through Wellington Forest, past the King Tree, Gnomesville and lowden to Donnybrook for an early lunch.
Then Kirup and the Cundinup Kirup road to Nannup where we met the children and had a wander through the music festival.
Camping at Greens Island on the awesome Graphite road sort of halfway to Manjimup was great with only about 6 campsites of the 21 occupied on a long weekend. Set amongst magnificent trees with a nice oval for kicking a ball, which we did or throwing a Frisbee, which we also did. A nice forest walk on the Bibbulman track along the Donnelly in the morning was most invigorating.
We packed up and headed to Nannup and the youngsters back to Perth. as we had a late brunch at the camp we settled for an afternoon coffee and a chill watching the interesting festival goers in Nannup. This was interrupted by a quick trip to Workers Pool / Burrabup pool to see if there were any campsites vacant and luckily there were still two of the 11 vacant. We quickly set up camp and headed back to Nannup [~8 km] for dinner and another festival wander.
A friend of our daughter was playing at the Blackwood café so we picked up a few beers and enjoyed his music and a pizza in a very relaxing setting. We also watched the next act then set of to the main venue and the food vans to fossick for a bit of dessert. Pancakes and poffertjies accompanied by another coffee satisfied the urge.
A pleasant surprise was a free venue that had some great vibes coming our way. We settled in for what turned into a great night of music and great entertainment watching three bands. We headed back at about 11 PM as the Town Hall was still going off to some great fiddle playing.
I successfully negotiated the gravel back to the campsite at night and enjoyed a spectacular clear night sky and starry display.
Sunday was a leisurely morning ride along the same route back with a brunch break in Donnybrook and what turned into a very hot ride home.
The bike performed splendidly and ran like a dream. The only two issues were with the notorious K speedo issues and the connection between the exhaust and muffler that leaks. Overall I am ecstatic with the buy.
