A small group gathered at Catalano's on a day when storms were forecast.
Swampy and Vincent were no where to be seen and its seems that the initials VFR stand for Vanishes when Forecast says Rain. Bry was disappointed that his Honda buddy was absent as he dropped in to check out the new purchase.
Another club member has been involved in an accident being knocked off his 1200 GS by a car and injuring his ribs. The bike survived with minor scratches.
Only three riders, the crusty demons trio, took up Robbo's challenge to get out in the mud and a similar number took to the bitumen.
Ariel, GS Bill + Trish and Bozo skirted around the storms by deviating to Warbrook Road, Railway Parade and Rutland Road before getting to the twisties in Wandena Road and Chittering Road. There is still a short stretch of gravel from road construction on Chittering Road. A back track along Blue Plains Road tipped us out on to the Great Northern Highway and for a high calorie break at the Bakehaus. We ran into Robin M on his 1150 GS in Bindoon and he seems to be recovering well from his bike accident.
Ariel headed straight back to Perth whilst Bozo and GS Bill + Trish took Dewar's Pool Road to Toodyay. There was only one spot where there was any significant gravel washed across the road and we soon reached Coondle and Toodyay. After passing through the second speed camera for the day on Toodyay Road we deviated to Berry/Clenton/O'Brien Roads and took Lancewood Drive to Brigadoon. We passed Robin M on Clenton Road heading in the opposite direction so his ribs are now OK to handle lots of corners.
Despite the horrendous forecast we only got a few spots of rain and avoided the small amount of flood debris. The strong east wind was a nuisance and seemed very turbulent near the hills, verging on gale force (62 to 74 kph). Pearce recorded a gust of 59 kph just before we passed through.
Excellent to get out and to see Harleys, Ducatis and other rain averse brands traversing our motor cycle roads (but no Swampy).
Hopefully the crusty demons had a good ride as well.

Re: Bindoon-Toodyay Ride and Swampy's VFR
My apologies to you all including Bry for not showing up today. You are quite correct Bozo, I and the VFR are adverse to any precipitation especially on a brand new bike and that and the fact that I felt due for a break and slept in till 0930 meant I missed all the action down at Cat's and on the road.
Sorry to disappoint you Bry, Were you On Duty as you have been quite often the last few weekends or did you bring the F6 Monster down for a run on a day off?? Either way, Sorry I missed you!!
Bozo it doesn't sound like too many rocked up for brekkie and a ride anyway so I guess I didn't miss too much and Bill n Trish ended up doing "Tail end Charlie" duties? (Started with 3 and ended with 2 bikes) Pretty poor show from some of the BMW die hard's I would say??????
Will try to be there next week end weather permitting,On a Honda or in a Isuzu as I don't miss many brekkie"s normally.
Hope the accident victim is okay and recovering well and if they require any hints on Recovery Techniques? Get them to call Snaga who has experience is this area

Of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."
