On a surprisingly good day, given the weather forecasts, JP, GS Bill + Trish, German Paul, Swampy and Bozo decided to do Gidgie's three prongs.
Heading through Brigadoon we took a brief deviation onto Rollinghills Drive to see the vistas across the coastal plain before the rapid descent and ascent on the two Lancewood Road woops. Swampy said "who needs to go to Wilga get to woop, woop"? O'Brien Road was quiet, free of cyclists, gum nuts, gravel scree and other traffic. Just after the Peter Brock memorial we deviated through the scenic Copley Dale Road before emerging on Berry Road.
The Gidgie three prongs are three Roads leading to Gidgegannup.....Reen Road, Reserve Road and Berry Road. We did Reen Road north south, Reserve Road south north and Berry Road north south. Reen Road had a bit of gravel scree but all roads were in good condition. Returning to Gidgegannup by Toodyay Road we noticed that the roadworks speed limit had been lifted to 80 kmh.
A mandatory stop at the Gidgegannup Bakery for a pie and a coffee with a discussion on travel, cultures, motorbikes and monkeys, was followed by Bunning Road and Mundaring Weir.
A very pleasant ride with no dramas, little wildlife and minimal cyclists.
Thanks to Swampy and JP for keeping the back of the ride orderly and making sure no one got lost.
