Zig Zagging the Scarp for a Pinjarra Pie

Post by Bozo »

A healthy roll up today with a few unfamiliar bikes and a few very familiar faces.

Good to see German Paul back from his European sojourn. Swampy was Harryless but promising to scrub a few sprues with us soon.

BJ almost joined the group near Pickering Brook but appeared to be heading to Mount Dale to "get his bike dirty".

Wes, BillB, Graham, Eddy and Bozo scalloped their way up and down the Darling Scarp to Pinjarra. Up Lesmurdie Hill, down Armadale Hill, up Nettleton Road, down Kingsbury Drive, up Del Park Road and down North Spur Road. Lots of cyclists on the road but mainly going in the other direction.

We did run into a cycling time trial on Kingsbury Drive but the main concern was the speeding learner driver overtaking cyclists on blind corners. Earlier we had passed speed cameras and booze buses without incident.

At the Pinjarra Bakery we were given number 42 and were reminded of the Quindanning Hotel and long delays in service. We all had pies within minutes so maybe the 40+ number hoodoo has been broken.

Returning via Paterson Road, Corio Road, Hopeland Road, Punrak Road, Rapids Road, Lightbody Road and Kargotich Road we avoided the traffic until we hit Tonkin Highway.

A few spots of rain and some wet roads but apart from the debris on the road from Black Cockatoos nothing to stress about.

Lots of different roads and sweeping bends, good company plus the comfort of a good pie. Thanks to Wes for Tail End Charlie duties.
