Having set the challenge of being first to get to the Dome at Victoria Park this morning, Swampy romped it in with German Paul being second to arrive.
A reasonable group including three airheads and a nice looking red 1200 RS were amongst the gaggle of bikes. Whilst the riders of the bikes were not as sharp looking they were decidedly better than the lycra clad lads who barged in around 8:45 am.
Five bikes were part of the posse that set off to start the numerical challenge by heading towards Highway 1 on the first day of the year. With surprisingly little traffic German Paul, Swampy, Wes, GS Bill + Trish and Bozo took the Great Eastern Highway(1) West Swan Road (52), Chittering Road (359), Blue Plains Road and Great Northern Highway (95) to get to Bindoon. Bindoon was very quiet as the Bakehaus was closed. We pushed on to Gingin via Crest Hill Road and Mooliabeenee Road only to find that the Café was also closed. Rehydration at the Liberty Service Station was followed by a brief revisit to Highway 1 then a run along Gingin Brook Road and Military Road. Back to numbered Road 60 (Wanneroo Road) for a few kms before turning on to Old Yanchep Road.
Swampy had a very professional high vis motorcycle zipped cover to make him more visible as tail end Charlie. This was put to the test on Neaves Road (85),West Road, Railway Parade, Ellenbrook Road, Maralla Road, Banrock Drive, Broadway, The Promenade, Millhouse Road and West Swan Road (52). The ride ended at Yahava Coffee in the Swan Valley.
Great riding weather. Swampy's new gear certainly made him easier to identify in the rear view mirror. Thanks to Swampy for doing fluoro tail end Charlie duties. Thanks to Wes' kangaroo whistle no wildlife was spotted just lots of confused dogs.
