I might make the topic of discussion at the next tuning Day : Throttle Bodies and throttle cables. To make it more interesting, as a task I will be pulling my new RT apart and lubricating cables etc. As an added bonus, my bike is fitted with an electronic cruise control and I will be having a look at some issues that relate to this type of thing.
Interesting is that the guys who make the cruise controls reckon BMWs have a few issues with stiff cables, throttle return springs and throttle bodies.
So, I thought it might be a topic of focus next tuning day. At least, that is what I will be working on anyway.
So far the line-up for tomorrow includes cable lube and adjustment, and carby balancing. Anywone with expertise and/or maintenance requirements make sure you get involved.
Hi all,
Just like to say that I attended my second club Tuning Day last weekend.
The first was at Bwanainoz's place last year where I had the abs on my R1150RT looked at and had a successful outcome with it having worked well ever since.
The second at Geoff's on Saturday where I had both my fast idle and throttle adjusted. Thankyou Mark and Dean for your valuable input.
It looks as though I have had a successful outcome here as well because my fuel consumption punching into a strong sea breeze coming home to Bunbury on Sunday was the best I can remember it being.
I would just like to say from my perspective that this is a very valuable feature that the club offers not only for mechanical ignoramuses such as myself whereby I have the opportunity to draw on the goodwill and knowledge of others who give this freely but also for the social opportunity this presents to members as well. None of this would be possible of course without the generosity and motivation of the people who make their houses and time available for this to take place. Thanks Geoff and thanks Noel.
