With such a perfect day how could anything go wrong? Apart from a confused departure (sorry Chris) Brian5, Paul, Dave, Ross, Digger, Swampy and Peter set off for a leisurely Spring ride with no further problems. The Beemers headed to The Lakes, Yarra Rd, Talbot West Rd, Scott Rd and into York. Our first break was at the York Lookout with a perfect clear day offering splendid views of wheat and canola surrounding the town. We soon resumed our ride to Northam bypassing the town to head to Toodyay via the scenic route - Katrine Road. The Toodyay Coca Cola Cafe as frequented by Swampy was our lunch break. Swampy was interested in the adjacent table, full of “old” people celebrating a birthday, and chatted up one of the ladies to try to get a slice of the large birthday cake, but even though it was much bigger than what they could consume Swampies efforts were in vain!
Dave decided to head for home via O’Brian Rd while the remaining six hit Julimar Rd to coast through Chittering Valley at it’s greenest. We hit the Great Northern Hwy at Bullsbrook, wished Digger the best for his Munda Biddi mountain bike ride and split to head homewards.
Thanks to Swampy for organising the ride, being TEC and trying to get us some cake.
Peter

Re: Ideal Weather Thursday Ride
Can't have you cake and eat it too Pete as you so sublimely mentioned to me!!
Seven out for a great ride in beautiful Spring weather with the countryside at it's best!
Thanks Pete for putting yourself forward to lead the pack and it was a leisurely ride in for some of the (Elderly) retired element of our club.
Cecil B. De Digger graced us with his presence but I'm afraid there will be no Mongrel Dog Epic as the camera was packed for a more worthwhile adventure soon to come to your screens!!
Thank You to those that joined us today for an enjoyable outing and commiserations to Noel who found an electrical problem on his HP2 and aborted the ride before it started!!

"I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains.
Of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."
