Overnighter - 20 October 2018 - Eaglestone Hill

Post by Cookie »

I will lead a ride out of Metro Saturday morning 20th October, making our way to Eaglestone Hill ~30km east of Nungarrin, for an overnight bush camp, there is plenty of room for pitching your tent and basic toilets. The ride will be primarily black top and some short patches of dirt roads into site.

I may be able to facilitate a dirt option if there is enough interest.

Whilst in the area, the Nungarrin Military Museum is worth the gold coin donation.

The ride out will be between 300 and 400km, run home on Sunday at your own pace ~280km shortest route, or relaxed group ride to metro by mid afternoon.

Go to Club Home page to register and join the ride.

Don't know if I can make this as yet, but if anybody wants a dirt ride there I have a route to the rock from a previous trip which I can send as a GPX file.

Sorry Cookie
I had planned on going but
I got a paid gig that night
They don't come up too often, so I take them when I can
Hopefully, next time
Cheers

Weather permitting I am looking at carrying on from Eaglestone Hill , on Sunday , to Mt Jackson, Diemals, Lake Barley and nth to Sandstone, ( overnight ) Paynes Find then down the center somewhere.

Anyone with the time and inclination would be more than welcome to accompany me.

Numbers are looking good, please register on home page if you have not already done so, that way we know to keep an eye out for you.

Weather is looking good - minor risk of a shower as we slip out of Metro area, then fine for the rest of the trip.

For those that missed out,,,

10 riders left Midvale for a first gear ride up Greenmount - not much fun, slipped across to Beverley, Goldie left us and disappeared back into suburbia, Quairading, Bruce Rock, Merredin and onto Nungarin - as we pulled up at the Hotel, Wightman arrived from the North with his group.

A quick refresh before we slipped quietly out to the rock.. setting camp and exploring the views before nightfall, Reklaw arrived about half hour behind us.

Great evening sitting around the campfire, 14 bikes camped overnight. A few headed westward first thing the next morning, whilst main group bid farewell to the Gooch / Knight team heading further East before visiting the Nungarin Military Museum - WOW they have done some major renovations - now a kitchen and dining hall - $10 for cooked breakie between 8 and 10am each Sunday.

We managed to avoid the showers on our run back into town, to wrap up another great overnighter, thank you for your company, a touch over 700km door to door.
