A Sunday Ride on a Sunday!!

Post by Swampy »

It was a depleted but jovial group that gathered at Catalano's this morning as some were away attending the Conto's weekend excursion.

Good to see Jamie attending again on a break from his NSW work commitments and also German Paul riding his newly aquired 2006 1150 R 8)

Great also to see a refreshed Dinga and his lady love back from Coral Bay!!

Jeff rumbled up his Harley and Drew took time off from driving massive Mercedes around the Metro area looking for paying customers to have a coffee with us!!

An absence of Bozo and Peter left me to lead a sedate ride of 5 on a route that Wes chose, to head up Lesmurdie Hill, Mundaring Weir Road onto Great Eastern Highway for a straight slab up to Clackline where we peeled off to take the back road to York.

I think that the "Urban Cowboy" got a sniff of dirt and disappeared in a cloud of dust somewhere en route and a failure on my part to conduct a "Bozo" stop and check at Clackline saw us lose Wes as the three remaining riders took a leisurely run onto York where we stopped for refreshments and chat before returning to the Lakes and Mundaring before dispersing to go our separate ways.

A few Police were noticed patrolling the Highways and Byways during the ride but being the decent law abiding citizens we are, we avoided any unscheduled and uninvited stops along the way!!

An enjoyable ride tempered with apologies to Wes!!

"I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains.
Of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."
