The temperature at the end of today's ride reminded me of a trip to Quindanning a few years ago:

The conversation at Quindanning:
"41" said Swampy...Sprocket said "I know you are aged well over 60"
"41" said Swampy as the well endowed lady in the pink top walked past...."only 38 mister" she said
"41" said Swampy....Jono replies "the meaning of life is 42"
"41" said Swampy..."its only going to get to 24 degrees today" says Bozo
"41" said Swampy waving a chromed stand in the air
"no point waving that" says Sprocket "its not a magic wand. It should have a number in it"
"Oh says Swampy" picking the number 41 off the ground then we all knew what he was on about.

The day started with a cool assembly at Catalanos with JP chronicling, Nev thawing out, Swampy arriving on a pomegranate highlighted bike with a visit by Beemer Dave.

Four hardy souls left early on a short ride through the scarp on Lesmurdie, Repatriation Road, Patterson Road and Walnut Road. We were expecting a lot of cyclists given the number that had been seen earlier in the day. What Peter described as a plague of lotuses passed us in Aldersyde Road. The plague comprised Elises, Exiges, Evoras and an old Esprit. On through the temporary inconvenience of bridgeworks on Mundaring Weir Road (yes it does have abridge) to Mundaring avoiding the threatened peletons of cyclists. We took Bunning Road to get to a quiet Gidgegannup Bakery. The doors were being locked as we arrived....closed due to no power read Peter. A clean BMW HP2 Megamoto arrived being ridden by a mate of the owner. He strolled over to tell us that he had purchased it 3 days ago for $15,000 and was happy to get his hands on a rare bike.

The melting four continued on to Berry Road, Copley Dale Road, Clenton Road, O'Brien Road, Lancewood Avenue, Connemara Drive and Campersic Road.

What temperature did it get to, I asked Peter? 41 a few minutes ago and 42 when we hit the Service Station. Quindanning said Swampy.

Great ride for a warm day Bozo thank you. Thanks Swampy for your ever reliable TEC duties on the constantly changing Harry. And Stoy thanks for the purring sound of the Yam with your new top box, looks cool.

I hope you and Mai have a great trip with your Slide On to the Apple Isle Pete, it should be lovely this time of the year so enjoy yourselves!!

Will miss your GPS type mind talent of finding interesting back roads on Thursday's so hurry back mate!

Bozo also will be sorely missed for the next couple of Sunday's while he is spending some time in Victoria now so we will be on the look out for a fill in ride leader for a short time!!

Pretty hot in Melbourne today. A lazy 41.
Hope Peter S missed the record temps in SA. 47 for Adelaide and 49.5 for Port Augusta.
Decided against Phillip Island Classic Bike with it being 44 tomorrow but will get to the races on the week end.

yes i think it hits Sydney tomorrow a barmy 38c @5 in the western suburbs ATM
im living in a converted fruit packing shed which is very similar to sleeping on a park bench
when trying to explain my heating issues to an old sydney sider he just looked at me and said it is summer, classic and no augment followed
enjoy what we have left and get out there and do it

only 41?? If you like the heat then spare a thought for Marble Bar. It holds the world record for the most consecutive days above 38 degrees being five solid months straight.

Chaos in Melbourne today with traffic lights out, petrol stations shut, coffee shops closed as temperatures hit 42.8 degrees. I was getting fuel in Como, when they put the red cones out saying no power.
Had to drive out of the affected area to get my daily coffee. Only 200,000 consumers affected by power load shedding. When I got back to my digs the power was out for an hour. When the change arrived the temp dropped 14 degrees in 30 minutes.

marble bar spent jan to march their one summer well actually out along the goldsworthory rd at a place called Warralong 3 hour turn around if we wanted a beer at the ironclad
i remember leaving MB one night and driving through a lightening storm no thunder just bolts earthing around us as we drove spectacular and very surreal
and very hot a lot of the hills around MB look very heavily mineralized almost raw iron a real heat sink

You want to try the north east of England, on their 1 day of summer usually in July, it can reach 20 degrees for an hour or so. Lol.

Ha Ha try 50 degrees C across the Nullabour with 36 degrees at 12 pm. Thankfully there was a breeze blowing, although hot off the desert, which allowed us to get some sleep in our non air conditioned camper. Ah Aussie deserts you cannot beat them! Luckily the fridge was working with cold ales to forget about the heat!
