"I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains.
Of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."

Re: Thursday Ride March 19 MUNDARING DOME The Dams Run
Brian I thought we might cancel the ride but on consideration of being on the bikes and sensible separation at Dome I consider we have adequately addressed the safety issues. So unless others object the ride is still on.

Re: Thursday Ride March 19 MUNDARING DOME The Dams Run
The Dams run turned into a dam fine day. Brian 5, Nick, Digger, Eddy and Ian joined me at Mundaring Dome where the 1.5 separation rule applied. A chilly 13 degrees as we headed down the valley to Mundaring Weir. A quick stop and a chat about the Weir’s role in providing the Goldfields and Agricultural land with potable water and we were off to Churchman Brook Dam.
Churchman was low level as expected but the sun was shining so all was well.
On to Canning Dam, which had us confused with conflicting No Entry signs but we forged ahead to view the dam wall. Wungong Dam was our next target but the entrance boom gate was closed so a quick U turn was executed and we were back onto the Highway heading to Serpentine Pipehead Dam. Low twenties temp. and sunshine added to the quiet ambience of the Dam - so peaceful in these troubled times.
As Serpentine Dam ( Main Dam) is a regular stop for us we did not stop but still rode across the wall on route to North Dandalup Dam. This was to be our lunch stop, so we pulled into the bbq area below the dam wall at approx. 1pm, perfect and began to cook our sausage sizzle whose ingredients had somehow packed my panniers. 1.5m separation and much washing of hands and careful handling of food did not spoil a relaxing lunch topped off with a few chokkies. Much chat about the virus, and future events cancelled was the order of the day. We had the beautiful area to ourselves, very relaxing.
Our journey home took us North on the SWHIGHWAY with the majority of us turning left at Keysbrook on Elliot Rd with Ian remaining on the SWHIGHWAY. Hopeland, etc Kargotich and the Tonkin had us all heading for home.
Thanks to all for sharing my birthday and thanks to Brian5 for TEC duties. A dam fine day!

Thanks Peter another great ride and all for your company
Hope you are up for many more rides & birthdays.
The bike liked the cooler weather a it made it home without the fuel light coming on. Travelling just under 300km.

Brian

G'Day Slackers,
A short video of today's (19 March) ride...I became confused at the end and got my dams mixed up. Must have been the fever. Happy birthday Peter!
