Midweek Ride Fri 14th

Post by brian/5 »

The weather looks similar for Thursday & Friday only 30% chance of 0.4mm mostly near the coast.
Friday has the forecast of 2 deg warmer at 18 degs.

As I am busy Thursday morning so suggest a ride Friday from Mojo meeting around 9:00am.

The weather for the day had deteriated to a 40% chance of 2mm rain.
With the suburbs looking a bit wet I expected to be the only one to turn up.
Both BillC and Nick were there on GSs. Ross also drop in for a coffee before he had to head to the city.

I originally had a trip partly on dirt to Greenhills but due to the rain decided to leave it for later. So decided on Bindoon. It was nearly the usual rat run up to Bakers Hill. Just a slight diversion down Ash Rd to the GEH before heading back to Old Northam via Doconing Road. After Bakers Hill it was down Chitty to meet up with Salt Valley Rd, then River, Juilmar, Chittering to the Bakehaus.

Despite arriving early around 11:30 the Bakehaus was quite busy. They were treating the covid norm a lot more seriously than many others. Only serving food and drink in takeaway packaging and putting on gloves to handle cash transactions.

A run home via Chittering Valley Road through Bullsbrook and picking up Tonkin Hwy via Stock Road.
Overall other than a sprinkle of rain on River Rd near Toodyay there only a light shower at the start and finish of the ride.
Thanks guys for your great company for another day of good riding.

Despite the rain in the beginning, it was a good day out, and sometimes a ride in the rain is quite refreshing in an odd sort of way. It also showed that the familiar destinations like Bindoon Bakery can still have a bit of fun and enjoyment in the ride there and back. Thanks Brian for an interesting route.
